So what happens if Trump doesn't nominate a new Cabinet Secretary after the first one is defeated?

Let's say the Dems peel off a few RINO's and Session's nomination is defeated.

What would happen if Trump said "I picked the absolute best person to be Attorney General. Anyone else would be second best. And if I nominated someone else, they would know they were second best. And I wouldn't put anyone in that position."

And then he just leaves the position vacant to see who blinks first. Of course this could apply to any Cabinet Secretary, not just the AG.

What say ya'll?

Nominate another one.

As I said, what happens if Trump stands his ground and DOESN’T nominate another one.

He wants Sessions.

I like the czar idea. Appoint Sessions Justice Department Czar, all the authority and power without the title.

Don`t be too quick to assume that Trump won`t be able to find a few Dem senators to side with him if he encountersr any RINO obstructionists.

I listened to this BS last night again. Why would the GOP let this happen? All they need now is a simple majority to certify his cabinet. The GOP ratified Obamas picks within the first few days, most of them and the rest within a month.

It’s called leadership. He puts the names out there, and they vote. Simple majority. MOve on.

I don’t think he’ll have the patience for them to sit on their heels. OTOH, make no mistake, a holes McCain and Lindsey are going to drag this stuff out as well.

I’m for him keeping every single pick as is, esp Sessiona snd the SOS, and labor and Treasury. They’re all good.

I just don’t see caving in on his people.

INCIDENTALLY, I’M THINKING MORE AND MORE FOR RUDY AS THE HEAD OF THE FBI IF AND WHEN COMELY STEPS DOWN.

Since the president is the Chief Executive Officer of the Executive branch of government, it seems like he should have the final authority on every Executive decision.

Nominating a Cabinet Secretary seems like nothing more than the president delegating Executive authority to an individual who must be confirmed by the Senate.

If, for instance, there is no confirmed Secretary of the Treasury, it seems to me that the president has the legal authority to make every decision, and to sign every document, that would normally flow across the Treasury Secretary’s desk.

First, I believe the filibuster rule is out for nominations other than for U.S. Supreme Court. So, if Mike Pence is presiding, we’d have to suffer a net of three defections. Let’s say Lindsay Graham, John McCain and Susan Collins.

As it is, I think the set of nominations is terrific, and that we will pick up votes from the other party, rather than lose votes from ours. But, the truth is, under the Constitution, nominations must normally be approved by the Senate and, so, the President has to work with that body and especially with those in that body upon whom he relies for votes.

This is a good thing. If serious questions develop about particular nominees in the minds of more than one Republican Senator, I think the nominee should withdraw his or her name, and enable the President to maintain good relations with the Senate. Could simply be a personal matter. No reflection on the President or his agenda.

It looks as though the other side is focusing on Senator Sessions nomination for Attorney General. Sessions has the advantage of being known by his colleagues in the Senate. The lynch mob will have a very difficult job stringing him up. Maybe everybody else sails through.

What happens? Career bureaucrats ( NONE of whom are like Sessions) would run the show. Many of those careerists are UBER-’RATS and will sabotage Trump left & right. NOT GOOD. Fortunately Trump is NOT a defeatist and won’t accept this.

That's what I was thinking. O appointed czars to do his dirty work, and the legislature didn't object. Anyone who isn't appoint can be a czar, now that there's precedent.

You’re totally missing the TDS factor. I totally expect McLame and Linda to parade their butthurt after Trump vanquished them. More popcorn please!

I say one should plan to win, not to be defeated - Trump will never tap you to be one of his advisers....and

it will make you smarter and more prone to planning to win....

And I believe this is the route Trump will take.
