A top American Senator today alleged that potential H-1B applicants are being advised to apply for an O visa instead of the numerically capped H-1B visas intended for highly-skilled workers to bypass legal restrictions on employment visas.

While H-1B visa is for foreign guest workers with high skilled capabilities, O visa programme, is intended for use by those who have extraordinary abilities...

If they can find somebody cheap and young or an H1B to do it, fine - but they don't feel overpaying hoary,

Anybody that thinks importing people to undercut American wages is OK is an anti - American bastard. They can all go to hell. This is what gives capitalism a bad name. Cut throat shit like this pitting Americans against imported 3rd worlders.

If they can find somebody cheap and young or an H1B to do it, fine - but they don't feel overpaying hoary, old experts in a discipline that likely isn't the company's core competency really buys them anything. In most firms, IT has failed to make the case to the business side that it is worth the money it wants.

It is good to have the cockroaches on FR identified. Your post did exactly that.

You are saying that it is fine to have American experts - who have taken years of work and often hundreds of thousands of dollars in investment to develop that expertise - get their economic worth wiped out by flooding the labor market. Those flooding the market don't serve in our military, don't hold American values, and have a massive predisposition to only hiring men (not women!) of their own nationality.

So again, thanks for outing yourself, cockroach!

I'm writing what corporate management thinks - not what I think. I think they are short-sighted morons, but they are ineducable on the subject of IT. Too many of them feel they got burned by the tech salary boom of the 90's and 2000's - and now it's payback time.

Really, I applied last year. They wanted me to fly down on my dime stay in a hotel on my dime and then do a face-to-face interview. Did they ever hear of Skype. So the part where no American has applied in Dallas is false.

What I find funny is that American companies are being duped by the skills presented on resumes by foreigners. I got the inside scoop on how they do it and American companies should look more in depth into these resumes because they are not getting what they are paying for but are thinking the skills from there are more than those here. Can’t find skilled American workers my arse.

That requirements list is ridiculous and is posted solely to keep Americans from applying. Then they will get a guy that knows maybe two of those things form India for $20.00/hr. He is waiting in the wings.

They are straight away asking H1B and D1 copy (not sure what is D1).
They don’t want citizens.

Can’t find them because they don’t apply. Just take a look at breakdowns of who is in STEM programs at your nearby colleges.

Please don’t reveal the company you received this from but was the company a very small recruitment firm?

If you went to google and looked up the address does it point to an apartment complex like one of mine did?

Seriously, there are these companies mainly from India, not being biased, this comes from experience, which use masking addresses. These addresses are real but when viewed from street view point to a strip mall or an apartment complex building.

I went so far as to google the address and it came up with a listing of addresses businesses could use for a price.

I always hang up after the third hello because if I have to say hello three times, the phone call is coming from India or some other off shore location.

That is not thru the roof.

According to all salary research firms, for junior level, it is.
