NFL players and coaches talk Trump, chance of more protests
The Gwinnett Daily Post ^ | September 27, 2017 | CNN Staff

Three days after NFL players locked arms to protest President Trump's criticisms of those who kneel during the National Anthem, the topic remained on the minds of many around the league.

Players and coaches took podiums during the NFL's weekly media day to field questions about the protests and whether they'll demonstrate again this weekend. Trump, meanwhile, continued to hammer the league for its handling of the protests.

"The NFL is in a very bad box. You cannot have people disrespecting our national anthem, our flag, our country. And in my opinion, the NFL has to change or you know what's going to happen. In my opinion, their business is going to go to hell," Trump said outside the White House.

Here is what some players and coaches had to say Wednesday:

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin

"If an American can't air their grievances to the republic for which it stands, then where can they air their grievances? And when you have the President of our country basically saying, 'I don't want to hear your protest, I don't want to hear your grievances,' then I think that's where we have the challenge."

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman

"Our President gets into the 'we' and 'them' kind of conversations and, you know, sometimes you wonder, who's 'we' and who's 'them'?"

Sherman added, "I think when you're the President of the United States and you're talking about fellow Americans, you always have to say 'we' ... or you become divisive."

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy

The coach said he would stand with his players in locked arms ahead of the Packers' "Thursday Night Football" showdown against division rival the Chicago Bears.....

[Sherman added, “I think when you’re the President of the United States and you’re talking about fellow Americans, you always have to say ‘we’ ... or you become divisive.”]

Sorry loser, that was your president Hussein. The most divisive president in modern history. A president who stood by for 8 years while blacks murdered each other by the bushel.

Have they ever heard of the Chicago DNC police riots by a Democratic mayor and city in 1968?

[I couldn’t watch but a few seconds of it, but CNN had some sort of “town hall” thing with tales of all the do-gooding the NFL does. Featured all the usual suspects. It aired last hour.]

Total hypocrisy on the part of liberal media. The next wife beating will have them abandoning the league in droves.

You’re a better man than me.

They’re just garbage.

CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH FACTS ABOUT THE ATTACK ON THE FORT DURING THE WRITING OF THE SONG?!?!?!

Did any of our great men die? The fort survived but what were the results of the night’s attack?

You fellas either stand for the National Anthem this Sunday WITH your hands over your hearts, or your sport is finished.

Glad I read down to your post. That was my very thought after reading the excerpt, and I was just about to post it.

The players and the owners need to review the polls on this controversy before this coming Sunday. One more round of mass kneelings, and this season will be over. Maybe next season, too.

This is an attempt by owners and management to “manage” the situation and divert attention from the myriad problems the league is facing now and in the future.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_McHenry

Beginning at 6:00 a.m. on September 13, 1814, British warships under the command of Vice Admiral Alexander Cochrane continuously bombarded Fort McHenry for 25 hours.[4] The American defenders had 18-, 24- and 32-pounder (8, 11, and 16 kg) cannons. The British guns had a range of 2 miles (3 km), and the British rockets had a 1.75-mile (2.8 km) range, but neither guns nor rockets were accurate. The British ships were unable to pass Fort McHenry and penetrate Baltimore Harbor because of its defenses, including a chain of 22 sunken ships, and the American cannons. The British vessels were only able to fire their rockets and mortars at the fort at the weapons’ maximum range. The poor accuracy on both sides resulted in very little damage to either side before the British, having depleted their ammunition, ceased their attack on the morning of September 14.[5] Thus the naval part of the British invasion of Baltimore had been repulsed. Only one British warship, a bomb vessel, received a direct hit from the fort’s return fire, which wounded one crewman.[citation needed]

The Americans, under the command of Major George Armistead, lost four killed— including one African-American soldier, Private William Williams, and a woman who was cut in half by a bomb as she carried supplies to the troops— and 24 wounded. At one point during the bombardment, a bomb crashed through the fort’s powder magazine. Fortunately for the Americans, either the rain extinguished the fuse or the bomb was a dud.[6]

Mike McCarthy:

"I was proud of the players. .... They've put a lot of time and energy and thought into it. They've met. They've had a chance to discuss, each and every guy, to express his opinions. I think, like anything in life, you're never going to have everybody feel 100% the same"

The Packers are on a short week, they played an overtime game in 90 degree weather on Sunday and now they play this Thursday. If what McCarthy says is true, how can they ever be ready to play?

These teams are not attending to their jobs, How many people can do something like this if they're unhappy with something totally unrelated to their work and then DO IT ON COMPANY TIME.

“The NFL and its media propagandist-collaborators are very selective when it comes to these protests, aren’t they?”

The players don’t even SEE how well they’re being PLAYED by the Enemy Media, either!

Good Lord!

So they’re kneeling to slap in the face an African American and a woman who was CUT IN HALF!!!!

Makes sense /s

There’s a movie called “Revolution” with Al Pacino in it that was thoroughly panned (I liked it).

It showed quite a number of woman (in rags and not looking so healthy) doing a lot to help the soldiers during the fighting.

I always wondered how true it was.

It Is true they were raped in massive numbers by the Brits.

War is heck.
