As British talk show host Graham Norton noted, it was “almost Shakespearean” that former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton attended her opponent’s inauguration.
Nodding in agreement with the host, Clinton said she wasn’t too interested in attending herself.
“I really tried to get out of going,” Clinton said in a Friday episode of Norton’s BBC show.
As per tradition, Clinton attended the inauguration with her husband, former President Bill Clinton “to show support [for the] continuity of our government.”
Nevertheless, she and Bill thought up a potential out.
“We thought, ‘Okay, maybe others aren’t going,'” she told the host. “So we called the Bushes and the elder Bushes were in the hospital, which I think was legitimate.”
But once they found out the Bushes and the Carters were attending, she knew the ruse was up.
“Bill and I looked at each other and said, ‘Well, we gotta go,'” Clinton said.

It’s to bad she didn’t try harder.
I bet if there was a buck in for the Clinton Foundation she
would have bent over backwards not to go just to get that money . She should tell us what it’s like to eat crow.

She could have tried the running down the stairs in high heels/broken toe excuse back then to get out of attending the inauguration. We didn’t want to see her lying mug anyway.

Bill and her have not been in the same room for years. How could she look at him?
I wish Trump would have had the four women Clinton assaulted and Monica as his guests.

You didn’t try hard enough. You could have fallen down the stairs, and hurt your toe while running with a cup of coffee in your hand. Or, you could have tripped, and hit your head...again, and again, and again, and again.....
That is what all sorts of people did last year when it came to going to Hillary campaign events.
She could have pulled the ‘Side of Beef’ routine.

Interesting that they’d call the Bushes (43) to find another former POTUS who might elect not to attend.
That impending 2 hour delay between adult beverages was traumatizing.
The Bushes and the Clinton's should have stayed home. I would have sprung for the Ice Cream and a big bag of Chetto's so they could have watched it from home...
That will never get old in this lifetime.
