P.S. Guess sean anthony is sleeping in this morning. ;-)
If water expands when it freezes and contracts when if liquefies, wouldn’t the sea levels fall as it melts?
Interesting
Well, two things may be going on. The sea may be rising or the land may be sinking—you’d see the same result in either happening. However there is a “path” in Britain, called the Broomway that is flooded every high tide that people have been using for at least the last 600 years, so if the sea level is rising, the land in Essex is coincidently rising at exactly the same rate.
Gets cold, water is trapped into miles-thick ice caps on land, ocean levels fall.
Gets warm, ice caps melt, oceans rise.
It's the part where scientists claim man did it, I owe them money for it, and they can actually affect it - that's the fairy tale.
Rising and falling....since the beginning of time.
Ice joining us from space has been part of that increase. When ice thaws in the atmosphere and eventually descends to the surface of an earth getting bigger every second, it stands to reason the oceans are getting deeper in your average segment of deep time.
FWIW: NOAA or NASA weather released a paper a week ago stating that sea levels are falling due to the massively thickening Antarctic ice shelves.
At the bottom of Lake Huron, approx. 250 ft. deep, scuba divers found submerged hunting structures which were likely used by prehistoric hunters hunting migrating caribou.....
This is what caused this to start 10000 years ago?
Sea levels began to rise 18k years ago at the end of the last glacial period. They have risen about 135 meters since then which is an average of 7.5 millimeters per year. That is an average of 750 mm per century (29.5 inches) which is far more than the average over the last century.
From 1880 to 2000 sea level rose about 20 cm or just under 8 inches. Far less than the nearly 30 inches per century average over the last 18,000 years.
The most recent data from NASA shows a decline in sea level.
Inconvenient: NASA shows global sea level pausing, instead of rising
This land bridge puzzles me.
If Canada was covered in 2 miles of ice, wouldn’t Alaska, Siberia, & the Bering Sea land bridge be covered as well? And wouldn’t such ice covered land be nearly barren of life; so barren that any migration to cross it would lead to starvation?
But we Stopped the Global Warming in the 70’s when the next Ice Age was upon us, Now that we have Climate Change the seas still have not began to rise.
What are these people smoking, and do they have any left?
Since the ice age they did, but they have stabilized and have not rising any further since.
