Bergdahl Avoids Prison Time, POTUS Blasts Decision as ‘A Complete and Total Disgrace’

After a military judge ruled on Friday that Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl would get no prison time after pleading guilty to desertion/misbehavior before the enemy (he actually defected), the POTUS exploded on Twitter, calling the decision to spare the traitorous army soldier from doing time to be “a complete disgrace to our Country and Military”. Here’s the tweet:

‘The decision on Sergeant Bergdahl is a complete and total disgrace to our Country and to our Military.’

Then-candidate Trump also said during an October campaign rally back in 2015 that, let me quote:

“You probably can’t do it, but if I win I may just have him flown back in the middle of that place and dropped, right in the middle. Let them have him, let him have them. That’s cheaper than a bullet,”

...and it is “a complete disgrace.”

The Man’s exactly right. And the vast majority of Americans agree.

He’s still a disgraced convicted felon, so there’s that.

At last, a President who thinks like a true American !

When Trump speaks, he’s echoing what ever patriotic father is saying around the dinning tables across the country.

Who will soon have his own show on CNN.

Can’t have a liberal darling tucked away in a prison cell, how will they make their appearance at the 2020 DNC?

Just ANOTHER in-your-face to America by the liberal slimebags that Obama loaded the military with.

Maybe the judge just wanted to defy what the president wanted. Most judges have a very high ego, and do not like their authority bogarded, questioned or overridden.
I don’t know if anything more can be done about it.
Maybe the families of those men killed can sue Bergdahl for culpability of some kind.

[[I don’t know if anything more can be done about it.]]

Someone on fox- a military person- stated that there is a general or something that oversees all court marshal trials and has the final say in the matter- so there is a ‘slim hope’ that this fella- who denied obama’s request that the man not be tried in military court twice- might over-ride the judgement-

But, if true, it is a very slim hope I’m guessing

And I have an Honorable Discharge, an earned rank and medals which I wouldn’t trade for a million dollars.

Though Bergdahl is, by definition, an ‘American’, I declare open season on Bergdahl, as it is said these days, “by any means necessary”.

Evidently the Judge made a quick exit from the court room and would not answer any questions. It is possible the review my the commanding General might get screwed up. Of course his legal team on it’s appellate appeal will say Trump’s remarks were inflammatory but that doesn’t wash. That Judge is going to be transferred to a remote base for the rest of his career.

I say civil suits to get at his 300k in back pay for the stupid promotion to Sgt.

I agree that the Judge was bristling over his authority being thwarted past comments, but lets look at that.

He was not the Judge at the time when Trump made his pre-election remarks.

It is a well understood basis for successful appeal to have Command Authority interference in conviction or sentencing. But does that apply when it is comments made before the person is elected to the position of authority.

The stupid Hawaiian judge that stopped the immigration orders from the new President cited campaign statements to base his position upon in that ruling as well.

I, and most posters, understand all the reasons that he should be in Leavenworth- — we don’t need a rehash of those. This Judge letting the convicted deserter slide can make the case that a successful appeal could have even overturned the conviction if he had not given such a nothing sentence that the perp will feel lucky and move on. How about a good legal scholar addressing the area of comments made before the person is in the position of legal authority?

“He’s still a disgraced convicted felon, so there’s that.”

You may have spoken too soon. He is appealing the felony record, seeking to get it expunged.

Of course something can be done. President Trump is CinC. He can’t and shouldn’t directly interfere with the sentence, but now that the case is over, BB is still in the military and still subject to military orders.

Remember what the President said while he was still a candidate? About sending him back alone? What’s to stop him from giving that order now?

"Just ANOTHER in-your-face to America by the liberal slimebags that Obama loaded the military with."

You nailed this whole travesty right on the head!

The decision by this military colonel judge was a direct slap in the face to the President and Commander-in-Chief, Donald Trump.....nothing more, nothing less.

In the next three-and-a-half years, expect more such retaliation by Obama's perfumed princes riddling the U.S. military higher echelons, most of them just itching to stick it to Trump.
