Mexico’s interior ministry has issued an alert across seven states following the theft of a radioactive device.
The item in question is a nuclear densometer which is used in geotechnical engineering to measure density. It contains radioactive material and there are fears such material could be used to make a “dirty bomb.”
The theft of the device took place in the city of León in the state of Guanajuata on Thursday morning. It was stolen from a vehicle belonging to an engineering firm. The National Coordination of Civil Protection warned that the material in the device is highly dangerous if removed from its container.
As well as Guanajuata, the ministry issued warnings in Querétaro, Jalisco, Michoacán, San Luis Potosí, Aguascalientes, and Zacatecas. The National coordinator of Civil Protection, Luis Felipe Puente, tweeted a picture showing what the device looks like.

Syrian update:
Reports of Russian, Iranian and Syrian air assets being redeployed to a ‘secure’ designated Russian airbase in Syria. They don’t want valuable assets blown up and an attack on a Russian base would be very grave.
Several allied countries wanting a piece of the action if a strike on Syria happens: UK, France, Israel and now Saudi Arabia.
President Trump cancels trip to say in Washington to monitor the situation, sends the VP in his place.
Given that the President mentioned a “24 - 48” hour window, eyes are focused on Syria. However, UN votes today on actions AND new moon is about 4-5 days away (a more optimal time for night attacks).
