Failed State California: Overtaxed, Overregulated, Overopinionated, and Underhanded
Canada Free Press ^ | 01/12/18 | Katy Grimes

California's highest-in-the-nation taxes: Schools rank at the bottom, Infrastructure is deteriorating, Gas tax revenue is used for social programs, Highest poverty in the nation,Recreational pot is now legal, Governor, obsessed with climate change

More is never enough for California politicians, as evidenced by our highest-in-the-nation taxes. The once-Golden State of opportunity and innovation ranks 48th in the Tax Foundation’s 2018 State Business Tax Climate Index. Again. Back in 2012 I wrote about our lousy 48th ranking, and that was before Gov. Jerry Brown’s Proposition 30 passed, which dramatically increased sales and income taxes. And it was before the California Legislature passed yet another massive gas/diesel tax on the state’s drivers, making California’s the highest gas taxes in the nation.

Our neighboring states ranked far better in the 2018 State Business Tax Climate Index: Arizona ranked 21st. Nevada ranked 5th. Oregon ranked 10th.

the D’s in Californcation have rigged the election system there to, usually, only list two candidates, both D’s...for any position

Is it because there is no Republican candidate?

Congratulations. You are the first person I’ve ever seen who can create a straw horse and actually ride it into the sunset.

Alberta for Coastal California would be an awesome trade.

Eh, sparki, I believe you are mixed up.

It’s a “straw man” argument, not a straw horse.

A straw horse is what you ride in your Mom’s basement when you’re not posting mixed up stuff.

And, first in per capita income, and first in net income.

It’s without doubt the richest state in the union.

Failed state?

Yes, the state government is a complete failure, as are all state enterprises and institutions. The place is completely lawless.

But the civil state is rich and prosperous and as beautiful as anything you’ll ever see.

Not a bad idea. Alberta is so frigid in the winter, its replacing California would lower the average national temperature by enough to eliminate the effects of global warming in the US!

I’d go even further. Break up Canada. The western provinces, BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba would become states. Ontario would remain as the nation of Canada, while Quebec and the eastern provinces would become French Canada. Though without transfer payments from Ottawa, provinces like PEI, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland, maybe even New Brunswick, would become economic basket cases that even the northeastern US states would take a pass on.

Culturally, neighboring US states and their Canadian counterparts have more in common with each other than their east-west orientated populations. Do it, already, eh?

I realize the mix. A little poetic license, please, as it is not proper to ride a straw man. As for your nonsense about how to get rich in California, why don’t you do it?

You have to have a license to write poetry in California?

Wow.

Will they let you vote with a poetry license?

As a Zen Master and licensed poet, I must answer your question thusly,

Mu

That means your question cannot be satisfactorily answered because of how you have phrased your question.

Could you perhaps rephrase your question, Jonny #s?

I assume you’re talking about the “on earth” part of my original question.

Let me try again:

Say, that’s an interesting idea, can you talk that out with me so I can understand better?

Feel better?

OK.

It’s California.

California is a state in The United States.

It’s just south of Oregon and east of Hawaii.

Beautiful state, 70% of counties are red. 30% destroying the state. Why doesn’t someone send this article to Governor Brown?

NJ is heading in the same direction; I fear Chris Christie will be the last Republican governor we ever have. The Dem POS who was just elected has publicly stated he wants NJ to be the California of the East Coast, and he won after promising to raise taxes in one of the highest-taxed states in the Union. We were already losing taxpaying Americans; this will speed up the exodus (and they’re being replaced by importing people from the sh!tholes Trump mentioned).
