I don't think any of it is constitutional. What part of "shall not be infringed" don;'t you understand? The means is certainly extraconstitutional.

None of it will have any effect anyway, but theregulators will feel good adn we'll be a little less free.

Trump is being political. He has no idealogy to draw from. He will declare winning as he signs gun control legislation. 4D strategery and all that.

Trump is playing the anti-gun Leftist kooks for fools people!

GET A GRIP...

None of what he's proposed will pass Congress.

His recommendations to the DoJ is more cheese in the maze to say that he's taking the lead while Democrats continue to play politics off the lives of the victims (which they are).

He's already came out and supported arming teachers and administrators, and removing those horrible gun-free school zone signs

Both sides know words on paper do not stop the hands of those with evil intent. We have thousands of gun laws. We still have murders of all kinds with a wide array of devices and methods. Beyond guns.

Regardless of the fact murder laws exist, violence laws exist.

The people that want more laws are legitimately insane for believing that more laws will solve the problem.

The only other reasonable alternative is they too realize this, and just want more gun laws to bind and restrict more law abiding citizens from gun ownership. Easier to control unarmed people. They are the ones who beg for the police srate to protect them from the criminals who remain armed as well.

ok. Let’s raise the age to own a rifle to 26. And the drinking age. And the driving age. And the voting age. And the age for marriage, for that matter. Out after dark? not if you’re under 26!

We’ve already sent a message to kids they can’t be trusted any more to pay for their own medical care before age 26. So if we’re going to send a message to all youth that they can’t be trusted with yet another issue, then let’s do it the whole way and settle on that age 26.Never mind the boy was also looking up bombmaking.

But if all we talk about is guns, and look outward for a national daddy to do something instead of inward at our own communities who failed to do something, who set the stage on a local level, then we’re just doing the work islamists don’t want to be noticed doing - disarming America.

Gun control is kinda like trying to solve drunken driving by making it harder for sober people to own cars.

Trump wants National Reciprocity, he may be offering up a deal to get it. Probably knowing they will not take it, then he can decry their intransigence and ignore them, as with DACA.

With the current asinine laws on the books, this could have been easily stopped but law enforcement chose not to and/or was to lazy.

In this climate, I can see the following passing:

Banning the sale or transfer of semi-automatic firearms to those under the age of 21. Ban the unsupervised use and possession of the same to those under 21.

Ban the sale or transfer of any firearm to those under the age of 18. Ban the unsupervised use and possession of the same to those under 18.

Anybody expelled from a secondary school for non-academic reasons becomes a prohibited person under the NFA. That person may apply to be restored at age 26.

Background checks for private sales.

Bump stocks are done deal.

Nothing additional on penalties for violating the NFA.

I don’t like it, but I think it is like Trump’s DACA proposal. Nice window dressing, but it will never come to pass.

And, No.1 is a non-starter as written. There are a lot of entry .22 rifles that are semi-auto. The Ruger 10/22 for instance.

On number 2 and 3, Constitutionally, I think both would pass. You’ve had the background check in place, and most everyone has no problem with the functionality. Personally, if you applied 2 and 3 to the past 300 mass shootings...I don’t think they would have mattered much. In the case of Texas former Army guy where he should have been on a list to prevent him buying a gun....that’s the fault of Army not placing him on the list. In this case, regulations already exist....they just needed to be exercised.

But then we come to the age idea. If you decide that people can’t be mature at 18 to buy a guy...where exactly does this idea go? For example....could you borrow dad’s gun and go hunting? Could you borrow your brother’s gun and go hunting? If you are that untrustworthy, why should I allow you to buy alcohol or cigarettes? Why should I allow you to vote? Why should the financial community allow you credit cards? This opens up a broader question.

But here’s this odd thing, from the past 1,000 mass shootings (4 or more)...how many were committed with juveniles, 18 or younger, with a gun? I suspect when you get to this number....it’ll be less than a hundred.

In the end, these three ideas will have little to no effect, and it might even open up the whole discussion of maturity on voting. I personally wouldn’t have a problem in making the age of maturity across the whole nation...21.

Not one of those changes would have prevented any of the shootings. Not one. It will only make it harder on law abiding citizens.

I don’t think Trump would sign something the NRA was adamantly against. The NRA signaled it really didn’t care about bump stocks. Probably because one can be made with a rubble band or just looping a thump into a belt loop. It’s silly. Plus not that many hunters, plinkers, or target shooters even bother with them.

Any further regulations involving background checks and competence should be implemented locally and temporarily (for the duration of drug abuse, certain risky prescriptions, etc.). There’s no sense in continuing to deny the rights of those who get cleaned up and lucid, because it would only drive the kooks into hiding their problems more.

There will be those who eventually test clean for a few months or a year and become societal assets again. Some federal remedies tend to be rather to reverse for individuals and politically turn too many of them against the rights of their neighbors. Needs to be some incentive where practical for those who want to get off of the drugs and get their heads screwed on right again.

Those who are psychopathic or spoiled should also be dealt with locally. Notice the demographics of the locales of mass murderers so far (neighborhoods of the radical left).

OK 3 regulations !

Does that mean he’s going to drop 20 regulations on firearms for each of these he enacts ?
