Vanity - Trump Critics
3/24/18 | self

Posted on 03/24/2018 12:41:45 PM PDT by Moe-Patrick

To the Freepers blaming Trump for the Omnibus: Please state what he should have done including the aftermath. Many wanted a veto, but never address the subsequent steps necessary for a ‘win’.

I love Free Republic and the thoughtful, intelligent commentary. Yet I was stunned to see so many comment on various posts with such little insight. Trump cannot write legislation nor can he make politicians do anything. What role do voters play? It seems that most expect Trump to fix everything while we as voters do nothing. We voted for the uniparty. We don’t march on Washington, we send our kids to propaganda schools and colleges, we don’t show up period. What are you doing personally to fight and win?

Proper perspective, saying Merry Christmas was hate speech before Trump. Isis attacks were normalized. The only immigration reform being offered was legalizing 11 million. Trump won despite the media, uniparty, FBI, DOJ, criminal investigation, wiretapping, Bush dynasty, Clinton dynasty, illegal voting, and indoctrinated voters. The argument isn’t about Trump’s missteps or wins, it is about saving this country. Trump is the only person fighting to turn it around.

For those still playing armchair quarterback vowing to not vote in 2020, imagine Trump quitting tomorrow, Pence stepping up, or whomever. And play that scenario out. What would change? Would the Congress suddenly become Conservative? Would they repeal Obamacare? Would they build a wall? Would they nix Planned Parenthood? Would they cut spending? Would they balance trade? Would they deal with Iran and NK or appease them? Would they deport DACA recipients plus the 11 million? Would they fight media? Would they fight the progressives openly and loudly? Would they fight for the party?

In summary, Trump can only be as Conservative as the bills handed to him. If you want Conservative bills, attack those writing them. Trump is not God. Be a part of the solution.

Rush, Hannity and Levin were creating cover for Trump. Because he needed it. Why were they saying he shouldn’t sign it when according to Vader doing so gives him the pier to spend pretty much as wants and as he pleases. I guess we’ll see who is right in the long run. I think Trump ultimately caved after watching Fox and Friends call signing it an error.

None of those people are president. If they are so smart why aren’t they? I’m pretty disgusted by all these purse dogs yapping at the guy who was the one who actually beat Hillary and the swamp machine, something none of them could do.

"I wish I had the Faith you robots have but I was born with my own mind and not easily led by group think."

I don't have "faith." People with faith should contact Jesus (Heysoos) and have faith that a short man will arrive to do some chores. I have a concrete belief in G-d instead with no faith required. But religion aside,...

Group think is like a steamroller in politics. Big tent and incrementalism are more practical sometimes, though, if enough activists know how to do it. Along for the ride, the big tent can be better educated.

Might need to work for it for another ten years or so if not sooner, but we're going to roll all over the left after that for a very long time. And there are no moves that the left can take to avoid it.

I think that Pres Trump has shown the discipline and strength it takes to govern the US. He signed a bill that was clearly meant to bring disruption to his supporters. The bill was so odorous in every way that he was going to veto it until he learned that his veto would probably be overridden because enough REPUBLICAN senators would join the socialist commie democrats to make it happen. He knew that his supporters wanted the veto and the many reasons why it should be sent back to the congress for a rewrite. However, he also knew the process would involve an indefinite delay in funds needed for the military and no assurance that his Republican party senators would not betray him again. President Trump showed courage and strength in doing what he was elected to do. Be a leader who does what he must, with the knowledge of the facts to be calculated and the risks involved. I have great respect and admiration for Pres Trump. He has shown the swampers that infest our govt that he can resist pressure from his followers, even when he agrees with them, when the interests of the country he is charged with protecting and serving supersede his personal desires. I also think that this whole episode of the swampers trying to destroy the Trump presidency by giving him a Hobson’s choice of outcome, has endangered Pres Trump personally because he has exhibited the strength and commitment to do what he must to save this Republic. I pray for Pres Trump and his family and their safety.

Black Agnes properly replied to Confiscator:
"I sense lightning coming your way."

Agreed! There are at least two of them besides "Confiscator" in this thread.

kjam22 had written in comment #3:
"he should resign if that’s the best he can do."

lormand had written in comment #105:
"Oh my, the excuses never end. What a disgraceful defense of Trump.
I expect to be suspended again in 5...4...3...2...1"

Agreed. (See my post #75) Hard to see what is going on here now here at FR with this anti President Trump stuff. Good God, I guess they would have been more happy with Hillary as President? I hope the Kitties are warming up in the FR Bullpen.

I agree with you. Publicize the crap that’s in there, announce a veto and say what needs to be taken out, and then state that any Republicans that aren’t willing to make those changes are not part of the MAGA coalition, but are uniparty hacks controlled by lobbyists. Dare them to override. I bet he could avoid 2/3 in the House. Then they would have to negotiate with him.

This capitulation was a mistake that will result in a democrat house.

“it seems like when I win, I lose, and when I lose, I lose, and I’m not allowed to leave the game.......I assure you, the Uniparty WILL NOT MOVE to have Trump impeached. They are doing much better with him in office.”

Based on your assessment of ‘not allowed to leave the game’, very true. So what are you doing to change the outcome?

No, the uniparty won’t impeach Trump because that would get him re-elected. But I disagree that the Uniparty fares better with Trump. I would love to have purists throughout government, but that is not the case. Trump has made progress though.

We have a choice, do nothing or get out there and fight to help anyone fighting for us. There are no other choices. Trump is the first fighter I’ve seen in 20 years. The Bushes, McCain, Romney, and many others publicly preferred Hillary. That defines what Trump is fighting against and we should be helping the fight.
