Who could of possibly seen this coming?
President Trump signed an EO today that essentially allows families to be detained together in order to stop the issue of separating children from parents. This, we were assured, was the primary concern of the most virtuous among us who have driven a news cycle of hysteria the last month.
Furthermore, this was a situation so dire they said, so terrible, that the President needed to simply ignore the law and stop separations on his own
So what happens when he actually does what they want?

There’s the mask slipping. This was always about catch and release being forced to return, not concern for kids spending 20 days in well equipped HHS shelters before going to live with family members in the interior.

Surprised? Of course you aren’t. If you had under 12 on the total number of hours it’d take for the Democrats and media figures to decide that ending family separations isn’t a good thing, collect your winnings at the window.
This should be a lesson to some conservatives who let themselves become pawns in this battle. I think most of their concerns were sincere but you can challenge a policy logically and with real solutions without playing into the hyperbole of the Democrat/media alliance.
Anyone that thought this was all good faith outrage from the left was kidding themselves. I’ll leave you with this nugget of truth from RedState writer Brandon Morse…

IF the Court in Cali refuses, then the current policy remains, i.e. the kids are held separately up to 20 days while better accommodations are found.
If the court provides relief, then the AG and other agencies are held to provide quick adjudication of the cases to keep the length of confinement to a minimum.
He is quite clear that zero tolerance will continue and provides congress / the courts an opputunity to ammend their brutal rules. I hope he and his people continue to hammer this home!
How about something more dramatic to show libs as liars?
After 20 days force libs to go to court to get a court to order Trump to split up families?
Now the news media is obsessed with the 2,000 that are separated and here now. They forget that these 2,000 didn’t come with their parents so it’s difficult to reunite them - plain idiots.

THEN, he would be ignoring the law and the lib's would scream even louder. What he effectively done is say "okay" I'll keep them together, but the liberal court ruling that REQUIRES their separation needs to be removed first.

The “asylum” seekers are not Mexican, they’re Central Americans. If they ar truly seeking asylum, why aren’t they applying for it when they reach Mexico??? Why travel another couple thousand miles to get to here?

The MSM is a willing participant, and all “next topic by which we are outraged” handbooks have been provided by the 0bama-run machine.
It has all of the “...if Trump does this, then....” possible outcomes lined up. This is how the entire MSM can switch in under 5 minutes, from one “Trump is evil” story to the next. They all have the list, and they all are complicit in this high-stakes charade.
This was completely expected. I expected it. I talked about it to my friends. I was sorely disappointed that Trump caved on this one.

What President Trump did was to change the attack. He gave them what they asked for, but since he (and we know what they ask for is not want they want), they were forced to change 180 degrees and begin attacking him for doing what they asked him to do.
Who is going to win that conflict?
I would expect the executive order will be brought up to the judge that ruled families had to be separated and ruled invalid.
The President has inoculated himself from these baseless charges.
Agree with your post. In the end, it is still up to CONGRESS to write the laws, and Trumps EO (and any court disposition of it) puts the ball back where it belongs, feckless C-ongress.

The media, doing the Left’s bidding WAS using the children and was not really about “family separation”, not at all.
Their target all along is exposed. It was always the “zero tolerance” at the border policy.
Why? The alternative to the zero tolerance policy is what they want. What’s that? “Catch and Release” is the alternative. Illegals are “caught”, charged, given a court date and sent on into the country, where nine times out of ten they never ever make the court date and slip, like 12-20 million others, into the legal shadows.
Don’t forget about the Republican Establishment. They are just as culpable.
