To give an example: last fall sometime, a friend who I know from high school, messaged on FB that her husband had 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his body. She did not have time to text, email, or phone her prayer request. By putting it on FB, I, in Papua, Indonesia, could support her in prayer and get updates on her husband’s condition. This would not have happened without FB.
And its been very good to me personally :)

If consercatives had shunned Facebook and Twitter during the last election Hillary would be President now. That is why the purge is in effect.

I joined to stay in touch with my daughters a LONG time ago. I find that it serves very little purpose for me any more. The last couple of weeks I’ve considered removing the app from my phone and just going there in the browser in my phone like I do with my home computer. Which is hardly ever. I’m tired of always seeing notifications and they are either things I don’t care about or they are COMPLETELY irrelevant to me.
I do have a reputation for taking good pictures and I suppose that ego-stroke is why I’m there at all any more.
Don’t buy the hype of this article. As a person actively and deeply involved in Facebook marketing there are rules you don’t break. If you read the linked article, what’s happening is people are using automation to game the system. That’s not good for the user’s, ultimately.
Most of the younger set in my family thinks Facebook is lame. They have moved on. It isn’t cool. That rationale is on both the left and right spectrum among the the kids.
I’ve heard the Facebook app is notoriously bad for privacy, even if you aren’t using it. I normally use my browser to reach it on my Windows machine. I looked at the app, and was shocked that it was nearly 500MB in size.

I am a facebook user i keep up with family and friends for some of these to have millions of followers i’ve never seen them before and i’ve been on it for 10 years today !
I use it — mostly lurking, rarely posting/liking — mostly to keep up with family/friends and a couple of interest groups (Free Republic being one).
I did a FB search on three of the sites mentioned and found all three still on FB. But none had the number of followers that were listed in this article. Makes me doubt the credibility of this article.
Perhaps they were deleted but are just now coming back?

I’m on it because of the effort, in Pa, to get rid of school/property taxes. People are losing their homes to taxes and foreclosure. I have been on FB two years and have only 13 ‘friends’ (one of which is another Freeper and the rest are conservatives. I don’t even accept friend requests from family. Once Pa SB/HB 76 is passed I’m GONE from FaceBook. right now, it’s a necessary evil.
If that is true (debatable), we may have won the battle and lost the war with all of these liberal IT companies cracking down on conservative posts.

I saw facebook as a place most people ‘exhibit their life’ for all to see....often quite boring.... Glad I decided long ago not to be a part of it.
FWIW, I just got a bunch of Sarah Palin posts in my feed - which I rarely see. Seems like the gnomes in the bowels of facebook are tinkering with the algo.

Here as well. My family has a private FB page where I post (on rare occasion). Nothing in public, not even likes.
