Have you watched and listened to any of the videos? They are quite riveting. If they are astroturf, they are absolutely brilliant. I think they are sincere.

On behalf of FReepers, I have been monitoring and keeping track of this #walkaway deal on Facebook. No need to thank me. I consider it a gallant service for fellow FReepers....
I am glad it is out there and apparently provides a way out and support group for lefties that are in the early stages of recovery. I’m thrilled that people are “leaving” the liberal plantation. It is both damaging to the liberal ideological cause and awakening a few.
I have some observations and reservations about it that I would only share here on FR for your information (since I’ve been studying it)....
1) I would say half of the posters and “members” of the movement are not recent defectors but long time conservatives showing support. I think there are 150K members or so now....
2) I sense the genuine sentiment of many of the actual defectors. It is interesting that once they make a move, they are driven out of their former heard with egregious contempt and their independent thought is cemented into a more open mind. This is also good.
3) Many are still attention wanting, feel sorry for me, snowflakes at their core. The lamenting about how hard it’s been for them to have a different opinion would seem pretty silly to most FReepers. I can only take it in small doses. But, I still give them credit for the effort to diversify their intellect with some independent thought. It’s a first step.
4) Many are defecting BECAUSE of Trump. Their awareness of TDS was made apparent when they said something positive and were vilified. Many are Trump supporters, NOT republican supporters. And many other members are educating the hell out them explaining that it is OK, they can be “libertarians” and not call themselves “conservatives” or “Republicans.” ——> (I LOL at this... It’s a start)
5) Some of them also HATE Trump and Republicans but have seen the bias and hypocrisy. Most were actually originally swayed and awoken by Obama and/or Hillary. They just do not want to be considered part of the diabolical mess of hatred and vitriol that is the democrat party.
6) Many say they will NEVER vote for a democrat again. But many of those also say they will always vote for the “non politician” or the “outsider” or the “Independent”. They will not be loyal to a party again.
Synopsis - It’s refreshing but not perfect and I doubt it will evolve into anything as grass roots as the Tea Party did (many are hopeful). This is not about support for conservative or even libertarian values as much as it is a protest against the looney left liars and characters. These folks should politely be brought into the fold and offered some basic logical points. But be mindful and gentle, they are recovering snowflakes. So they are fragile.
Almost every time I do that I find a 20 minute long crap video and spend 2 or 3 minutes before I conclude it is pure crap and not getting any better. Far easier to coach people to tell us what it’s about and save 100 people from watching 2 or 3 minutes of crap. The US could be a lot more productive if people weren’t watching crap YT videos. MAGA depends on it.
If you can’t see the importance of the Walk Away movement then you are beyond help.

No, a video takes more and data cost on the phone to download - and more important - many more minutes to watch than the seconds to read. In the half hour of a ABCNNBCBS TV press corpse broadcast I can read 30 different text columns here on FR.
Right, we assume there must be huge numbers of people recoiling in horror at what the Democrats have become because we think "How can you not recoil in horror?". But I remain unconvinced.
Exactly. All these amateur youtube political videos are just a massive example of the dumbing down of our culture.
Drive me crazy. And they shouldn’t be posted anywhere without a summary of the content. Otherwise they are just rude cheats of other people’s time.
These are not “voters” FOR republicans. But they may be fewer voters for democrats. So it’s a partial win.
The best hope is that this is an indication that many typically democrat voters are at least abstaining from voting and hopefully decimating the democrat voter turnout for future elections. This would also help turn the tide in elections.
We must also hope they do not successfully get illegals in the census count and registered to vote. It would more than offset any gains in the apparent awakening for sure.

It's pretty real for now. But I am not sure if it has staying power. It needs more publicity. Remember, Liberals (and even recovering liberals) want to be part of a GROUP. They must feel they are standing up for something important. This gives them that outlet and they are finding some feel good comfort with like minded fellowship. It should be encouraged and supported.
Don't expect these people to be fully reformed or intelligent about current issues, events or even on past history. Remember, this is a protest/revolt against the hateful vitriol that is the base of the left. They are not running to our side. They are running away from their side. There is a vast middle of lost souls between the two. But it's a start.

Watch the video I posted in post 31. What I’m seeing there is actually just a real world example of a person growing up. It is a lesson in why young people start out leftist, but as they observe the actual ideas and antics of the left, naturally migrate to the right as so many of us did back when we were young and stupid.
I think #walkaway is really just giving a name to it - but I do have a caveat - This time it seems to be a movement against “politics as usual” and a lot of them were Bernie supporters. They hate both parties.
And I find this interesting because that is actually a common thread among many of us Trump supporters.
Is it positive or negative with regards to walkaway movement? What is scary about the movement?
You just don’t get it.
Every one of these videos are helping to transform and it’s not about you or I: It’s about the younger generation and others who too sheltered to encounter this type of discourse in their own circle.
These and “walkaway” videos will soon be the target of censorship.
I certainly don’t watch but a few but this Conservative black woman (a rarity) definitely nails it and her words will affect thousands of others.
