Consider it a love tap up side the head with a black jack.

Do I have your attention now?

Thank you for your compliance.

Hard to stand up if you don’t have arms.

Generally, I agree that if you don’t promptly comply with a cop’s legal orders, then you get what you deserve.

In this cape, the Nazi cop is an idiot. The situation is controlled, the cop’s safety is assured by the man sitting and back-up is seconds away. All the jackass cop needs to do is continue instructing the non-compliant fool while keeping the TASER aimed at the perp. That’s it. If he begins to get to his feet, the cop can always TASE him then.

The Nazi cop over-reacted. I am seeing an acceleration of bad policing and overreaction from police and it is sickening. Yes, there job is increasingly more difficult and unsafe, but common sense should prevail. You have a non-compliant jackass but he is sitting down where the cop is in complete control and it only takes a second to deploy the TASER should the sitting man try to stand or run or turn around.

The Nazi cop should be fired. Period.

I watch live PD regularly. Most cops are reasonable. Many bend over backwards to de-escalate conflict and accommodate unreasonable people.

That said, even on live PD I see a lot of bad policing, over-reacting and police CAUSING problems. I see police with inflated egos who go ballistic and escalate immediately when people don’t instantly comply with their orders or give them any backtalk at all. Not common, but not rare either.

Their are plenty of bad cops out there. Even on live PD.

Any possibility the guy was acting a bit obtuse to lure the cop withing reach/ Walk the walk before jumping to conclusions.

I guess electric stimulation is okay to use on a detained American citizen, but not on terrorists?

What about this guy’s right to remain silent, or is it only a right after he’s been arrested? Is it just me that thinks this is wrong?

Let’s face it, because of political correctness, qualifications and standards for police officers have been drastically reduced.

If he’s breaking the law, arrest him. If he needs to be searched, have him assume a searchable position on the ground or against a vehicle or wall and search him. If you want to give gymnastics instructions quit the police force and become a gym teacher.

Someone earlier on the thread said there should be a standard that only one cop barks orders. I would go one step further: every video showing two or more cops barking contradictory orders should lead to a hearing designed to identify a commanding officer who should be fired or suspended without pay and demoted. Poor training of police officers is inexcusable.

“It also sounded like he was being told to cross his legs at the same time which seem to confuse him reasonably so”

C’mon man. He was intentionally REFUSING to follow instructions.

Legs straight out, then crossed, is standard to inhibit people from running away without warning.

All the guy had to do was follow the officer’s instructions. Not difficult.

The only handicap this guy had was the YUGE chip on his shoulder.

” Officers stopped Mr. Williams after receiving a 911 call about a man with a baseball bat, the police said. When one of the officers arrived, there was no bat to be found, but the officer saw three people telling Mr. Williams to get away from them, the statement said.

The officer told Mr. Williams “several times” to sit down and he refused to comply, the police said. Instead, he kept asking a woman in the group to give back his Social Security card.

A couple of minutes later, Officer Bernot arrived and instructed Mr. Williams to sit on the curb, the police said. The group of people later told the police that Mr. Williams had exhibited “erratic behavior” and “wanted to fight.”

The police said Mr. Williams was found to have an outstanding criminal warrant for possession of a controlled substance and public drunkenness. He was arraigned and released on $5,000 bail.”

Officer was JUSTIFIED!

ERRATIC BEHAVIOR, REFUSING MULTIPLE COMMANDS, MULTIPLE TIMES!

BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

........................

Sorry, but the facts (no bat was found AND HE WAS SITTING) contradict the point you are trying to make. I have a great deal of respect for police in general, but I think this one was an idiot. He was clearly told two different things by two different offices. As I listen to the instructions I think I would have been confused in the circumstances also.

...If he needs to be searched, have him assume a searchable position on the ground or against a vehicle or wall and search him....

You obviously missed the part where he was not responding/cooperating with voice commands - always so simple for the armchair quarterback who is never going to be in danger by close proximity to folks or have a job that requires such contact.
