When Macron was elected he represented change from the outside. Now he represents the elite establishment.

I wonder where Trump stands in relation to other world leaders on citizen approval.

When the popularity of any politician falls below a certain critical point, there is just no recovery.
Ask anyone who was familiar with the rise and decline of Richard M. Nixon. Or Lyndon B. Johnson.

Don't forget the French way of showing displeasure with bad rulers.

Just looked at a Gallup Poll at Bloomberg, showing world leaders’ popularity ratings.
Modi of India eked ahead of Trump by one point, and that’s using the MSM approval rating of 45ish. Using Rasmussen’s take, Trump is Number 1.
The rest are on down the hill, especially Macron.

The solution is simple, they need 'yellow vest control'. Just make it illegal to wear a yellow vest. Problem solved.

I think globally we are facing this problem with general cynicism towards all governments. I don’t ever see any future leader being all that popular. Nations are just too divided through means of demographic upheaval.
I saw someone the other day we may see the return to “Nation States”.

Some polls had Macron at 18% a week ago.
And some French mayors (obviously with a good grasp of history) warned Macron that if he didn't change course, he would find his head on a pike.

I wonder if the rest of the EU will come to Macron’s aide in the event things turn bleak for him in France.

Lyndon B. Johnson, if he had acted like he had some guts and gone to the nation saying ‘I am going to see that the Viet Nam War is won, no matter what. If you don't believe me just look at what the USAF is doing to Hanoi this very minute and this is only the start. And if the Kim dictatorship thinks it can push us anymore just see what USN Aviation is doing to the former USS Pueblo and the harbor it is in at this very minute. And these are just openers.’
But no, Johnson buckled in the pinch and we got what we got in SE Asia.
