Marilyn Monroe (Norma Jeane Mortenson). Everyone has heard about her, most people know her story. She was an American actress, singer, model, she did it all. She became a popular sex symbol in the ’50s and ’60s, inspiring many women to chase their dreams and be themselves. Sadly, she passed away at the very young age of 36.

However, she still managed to achieve more things than most people do in a full lifetime. Marilyn was photographed by many photographers, including one photoshoot by Sam Shaw which is considered one of the most famous of her shoots

She was so beautiful. And she had a normal woman’s body. Today she’d be called thicc in a good way.

I’m only not attracted to her because I am hetero. But to me she is naturally gorgeous with a baby shaped face. And her aura on film is very sweet and attractive too. She was oversexed too young which kind of makes sexuality permeate everything you do. So that was part of her appeal as well.

You’re wrong. Today’s supermodel is more like Marilyn than ever before. True that there is more enhancement but the best today are not thin, just really shapely.

This is the evidence that Adam Schiff has been looking for. Trump is a goner now.

Looking at these pics, I believe that Marilyn Monroe would be considered fat by todays standards.

"If she had had enough sense to find a man that wanted to go further with her than her bed that would have done her a world of good."

Does New York Yankees slugger Joe DiMaggio count?

Joe DiMaggio placed a 20-year order of a half-dozen roses to be put on Marilyn Monroe’s grave three times a week.

Gloria Swanson was 51 when she was in Sunset Boulevard but she looked much older.

Not much of a Marilyn fan. For me, the best looking women from the old movies were Ingrid Bergman, Audrey Hepburn, and Lauren Bacall.

Oh brother, so many comments without any real insight into basic standards of beauty.

Regardless of era, it's the unique sets of proportions and balance between all the, um, critical parts. This is true for both men & women - take a 6'2" well shaped (modern day athlete) 20-something cowboy from 1870, clean him up, and he'd be a modern day hunk.

Superficial elements regarding weight are the least concern. That is, anyone can lose weight, work out (a lot), tone up, etc to mirror contemporary standards. But if you don't have the basic building blocks, no amount of cosmetic surgery, clothes, make-up, etc is going to make a difference.

These types of debates crop up in sports all the time. But people who know often state that great players can play in any era. Give them a modern diet, work out regimen, etc, and their natural, base talent will flourish.

Same is true for good looking women - a few weeks ago I came across "Gold Diggers 1933" on TCM. Even though styles have obviously changed, every single chorus girl still had the essential height/hips proportion, bone structure and (heart shaped) face that one (still) needs to be a Rockette.

Any girl can be glamorous. All you have to do is stand still and look stupid.

I disagree

Muscle tone is what I would say is required of today’s supermodels. Women also have a layer of fat just below the skin that men don’t have, which helps to smooth out the features. Any extra fat is like a cancer to a supermodel. There is a fine balance which has to be maintained which involves workouts, diet, and natural good looks. Between starvation and fitness.

You sir, are well blessed indeed.
She is worth far more than rubies.

A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
She gets up while it is still night;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her female servants.
She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

It was the blonde hair that attracted men. Actually in the 50’s that bleached blonde look was considered “cheap” — then Clairol came along and said “blondes have more fun” and it became popular.

Could someone tell me if the beach her photos were taken is either 1) Underwater or 2) 7 miles from the coast due to Climate Change? I'd say 3) The beach is at the same location, but built up with either condos, hotels or anything else...

The photo could be proof that Climate Change is a hoax, but St. Greta of the Our Lady of Angry Swedish Teen 😀 might say it is photoshopped...😀

She’s certainly not unattractive, but today you can go to any bar in America on Saturday and see ten equal to or better than her. Beauty standards have gone way, way up since the 50’s.

I disagree. Attractiveness in a woman has as much to do with presentation, demeanor and deportment as it does fitting a certain shape.

You watch the women in movies from the 30s through 50s, even the crime drama shows of the 50s and 60s, and the women are MUCH more appealing ... how they dress, how they sound, how they move, how they treat men and other women. They are feminine, are happy for men to be men, and it shows.
