Sunday on CNN’s "State of the Union," Jake Tapper asked NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio if his comments telling people to go about their normal lives during the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic could have contributed to the massive outbreak in New York.

"Jake, we should not be focusing, in my view, on anything looking back," he replied. "This is just about how we save lives going forward... This was a very different world just a short time ago."
"Mr. Mayor, weren’t your actions in this outbreak also far, far behind the curve?" Tapper stated.
"I think the big historical point here that will be looked back on is if this country had the testing we needed this could have been a very different reality," de Blasio said.

Remember this is the same mayor against his own aides' advice, as late as reported on Mar. 16, "intentionally visible during the outbreak, riding the subway, posing for selfies and demonstrating safe greeting practices like an elbow bump".
And because of de Blasio's cavalier stance, his preparedness as Tapper pointed out, lagging way behind the curve. But the mayor said that YOU should not look back at him trying to find blame.
However, as one commentor on RCP site - Deblasio to Jake "we do not blame anything on any body but Trump" That about sums up the Dems response.
And what about the past three+ years of Trump admin? Democrats did nothing but looking back trying to remove him from office.
Very unusual for the media to ask a pointed to a communist democrat! But, like a communist, his reply is evasive. Let’s remember he said “we should not be focusing, ... on anything looking back” when he criticizes Trump.

These kinds of questions, media flack to failed politician, aren’t meant to hold the latter responsible, but rather to allowed the failed politician a platform to continue to dispense lies and propaganda.

Lack of an effective Republican party in the state and especially in NYC they essentially assign a designated loser to run but both sides are corrupt as hell. I hate to say this to partisans on both sides aisle, but no one thought something bad like this pandemic was possible. A lot of leaders all over the world said a lot of stuff, that in retrospect, was unwise. What are we going to do? Hang them?
Sure the political leftbraisted Trumpmas a racist for stopping travel from China which makes them look like idiots, but Trump was probably a bit too slow to jump on this problem as well. Heck, mostbworld leaders were too slow in retrospect.
Still, The real culprit is China. They didn’t follow protocol. Mechanisms were in place to avoid this situation, and they lied.
I think everyone really should forgive left and right leaning politicians here and in Europe. Seriously.....China caused this mess and it is they who deserve our ire.
While the virus mutated, infected and killed New Yorkers, Blobbio and his lesbian wife were looting and
pillaging city tax coffers to advance their laughable political ambitions.
NYC desperately needed testing and medication.......but the Mayor never bothered to confer with the medical establishment.
He was running around like a chicken with its head cut off launching his pathetic presidential ambitions.

Blobbio's been caught with his pants down and hopes to blame Trump.
Trump can handle DeBlasio easily.

I am not disagreeing with you on China must pay. BUT.
Right now, we are seeing SOME (and mostly all Democrat) politicians and their media enablers STILL play their politics-as-usual game. Instead of united behind president Trump and his task force to face this pandemic together.

When President Trump was announcing his task force, Nancy was passing out Impeachment Pens.
China began its lock down at 30 deaths.
A less charitable person than I would suspect they knew exactly how dangerous this virus deliberately engineered to have Ebola and HIV surface proteins could be, right out of the gate...
