Who Is Responsible for the Loss of Faith in Science?
James G. Martin Center for Academic Renewal ^ | December 11, 2020 | Sumantra Maitra

In an essay in the liberal UK broadsheet The Guardian, multiple authors chart out the most important task for the incoming Biden administration: to “restore the faith in science.”

“Joe Biden’s most important promise to the American people was a policy platform taken for granted prior the Trump presidency: believe science,” the article suggests, adding that “Restoring trust in science will not be simple after four years of lies, half-truths, misdirections and conspiracy theories.”

Days later, the academic journal Nature was under pressure from a concerted effort because it dared to publish a paper showing that “increasing the proportion of female mentors is associated not only with a reduction in post-mentorship impact of female protégés, but also a reduction in the gain of female mentors.”

Why are those two instances important? Because lately, oblivious to the internal contradictions, a section of the elite is determined to restore faith and trust in a somewhat religious idea of “science” as long as the conclusions adhere to a Whiggish liberal worldview.

Conversely, it is also that same section of elites that are opposed to any scientific conclusions that contradict their worldview. That makes this whole charade a sort of faith-based activism, where the definition of “science” is somewhat of a mystery.

It has ALWAYS been a word game.

EVERY thought we now have is the result of words planted in our brains.

Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God

Who are we listening to ?

Those who have selectively politicized misused science are completely responsible for this situation

The sad part is science is increasing it’s reliance on multivariate regressions. The problem is if they like a particular result it is causation, if not it is just correlation.

Science is not a religion and you’re not supposed to “Have faith” in it. That’s an utterly unscientific proposition to put faith in science.

Who is responsible...

I was going to answer the question but others have already done so.

Once one side claims the science is settled and then attempts to silent all opposing view... faith in science goes out the window.

“Who Is Responsible for the Loss of Faith in Science?”

John Roberts said judges on SCOTUS are apolitical.Rigggght! I guess in that respect all these “scientists” are also apolitical.

Faith is a theological virtue. Its correct object is God, not science. Science is a gift of the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 11, usually rendered with the Anglo-Saxon word “knowledge” in most English translations but as “scientia” in the Vulgate or Latin). Unfortunately, the Communists use the word “science” to describe “lies, half-truths, misdirections, and conspiracy theories.” This phenomenon began more than four years ago, but during the present quadrennial presidential term, the Communists used this technique unrelentingly against the sitting president in their unfortunately popular rhetoric.

So, to review, liberal Democrats as subsidiaries of the Chinese Communist Party want you to place divine faith not in God but in their own lies, half-truths, misdirections, and conspiracy theories, which collectively they insist that you call “science,” even though that word describes a body of objectively true knowledge that logically cannot admit their “science.”

Terence McKenna said it best:

“Science builds toys for obedient children.”

What Terence was saying is the modern world of .gov grants and financing of “science” has turned most “scientists” into obedient children needing to obey their “parents” or else get kicked out of the house and forced to starve to death.

How can I count the ways? Even before COVID, there was the AMA treating guns ownership like a disease, there’s all that global warming horses*t, where it seems that the more your predictions don’t come true, the harder you push it... then there was that ozone hoax, where “scientists” took a topical concentration graph and chose to label most of the values black so create cartoon hole, then there was acid raine, then there is horrible forest management that results in horrific destruction every year when we had way more common sense decades ago in cleaning up forests...then there are the fools tilting at windmills...

Fewer women want to be in academia than men. Statistically speaking, women’s minds work less like calculators than men’s.

The femininity of women makes the sterility of academia less appealing to them.

Science used to be immune from political ideology.

You want to try and test that hypothesis?

As long as the scientist is getting paid by taxpayers, the science will be infected by politics.

Science is skepticism (to be “scientific,” a result must be repeatable).

Socialists are not skeptical but cynical - a very different thing. To be skeptical is to be open to opposing theories; to be cynical is to be certain about the negation of a theory.
