Hi, friends:
I want to mount flags out of my apartment windows, on horizontal or diagonal poles, perpendicular to the wall exterior.
Can you suggest no-drill hardware or clamps that allow me to attached these to the upper part of the casement, so I can lower the upper part of the window to properly adjust and maintain the flags?
I rent, and want to make this relatively uncomplicated, seasonal, and remove the hardware if I vacate one day.
The landlord and neighbors will not be an issue. I just want a simple way to fly our beautiful flag out a few windows, for the enjoyment of seeing it when I look out into the sunshine. It would really brighten the appearance of my windows and apartment.
Product / bracket / hardware links would be appreciated! Thank you!

See post 18.
Everything depends on the window setup and size of the flag

Yes, I posted that...
I hope it is the Gadsden flag.
You da man. Yep.
Instead of making a conduit bar with threading (post 28), you can use an inexpensive pull-up bar for doorways. Instead of angling and drilling into a block of wood, screw a regular flagpole bracket to two 2x4 blocks. Wedge it against the side of the window frame with the pull-up bar.
Very good suggestions!!
After looking those up on the ‘net, I see mine would cost less than 1/3 of a pullup bar.

Good stuff. I have had rechargeable lights hanging outside for years.
Flag size would impact what you want to do. A 3’X 5’flag would probably tear apart any casing with minimal wind with a clamp on holder.
I agree, but apartment living isn’t conducive to a workbench and tools.
I bet most floors in apartment buildings wouldn't take all of that. The sixth floor shop would become a basement shop, like it or not.
Buy a pull-up bar from a sporting goods store. (They are designed to twist and lock on a doorframe in order to do pull-ups.) Then get a clamp on flag pole holder.

Without seeing it, we could tell you almost anything, but it might not be workable. Hence,
1) With your phone, photograph the casement that you want to attach it to from many angles.
2) Write these in your phone’s notepad: Measure the casement frame and the flag and pole in every possible way. Weigh the flag assembly also.
3) Go to a good hardware store and search for the most experienced old hand there, show him the photos and measurements, and ask advice.
