The Reason for That Trump Grand Jury Delay: DA Bragg's Case May Be in Big Trouble
Red State ^ | 03/22/2023 | Nick Arama

Posted on 03/22/2023 5:38:04 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

As we reported earlier, the grand jury proceedings that were supposed to take place Wednesday were abruptly canceled by the Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s office. There were reports that they were supposed to hear from at least one additional witness but that did not happen.

Bragg’s office wasn’t talking about the reason for the delay, saying “We can’t confirm or comment on Grand Jury matters.”

But sources familiar with the case told Fox that the proceedings were canceled “amid ‘major dissension’ within the district attorney’s office. One source claimed the district attorney is having trouble convincing the grand jury on potential charges due to the ‘weakness’ of the case.”

The sources also said that Trump has not been formally notified about whether Bragg does plan to bring an indictment and that despite all the hullabaloo, “there remains a real chance that Bragg does not choose to indict the former president.”

I just have to shake my head after all this, I wrote about this over the weekend — not so fast, it’s not a done deal yet. They knew this case was a turkey, and that’s why the feds wouldn’t pursue it. He, Bragg, knew it was a turkey. That’s why he didn’t pursue it when he first came in and had controversy over that.

So why did Bragg pursue it now? The case didn’t get any better in the meantime. The only thing that happened was that Trump was going to run for president in 2024 and they needed some way to take him down — to take up his time, focus the electorate on that, rather than on Joe Biden’s failures, and deplete Trump monetarily.

There’s an old joke that a prosecutor could indict a ham sandwich. All that means is that basically the prosecutor has great influence over the grand jury and can get them pretty much to indict anyone. There’s no defense presented in the grand jury proceedings so it is easy to see why this would be true. But if this is true — that they’re having trouble convincing the grand jury — it sounds like this case is such a turkey that even a New York grand jury isn’t going for it. Imagine how bad it must be if he can’t indict the sandwich in New York City.

Now, maybe part of the reason for the problems is the testimony on Monday from witness Robert Costello, Michael Cohen’s former legal adviser. Costello said he was able to tell the grand jury that Cohen previously said that Trump had not been told about the payment to Stormy Daniels and that Cohen was a serial liar. Costello, who used to be a Deputy Chief in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, said he would never have put on a compromised witness like Cohen. He also said he thought he got through to some of the members of the grand jury.

What the “dissension” is over, I can only imagine but at this point, they must know that this has embarrassed them before the world for trying to go ahead with it and it makes them look so ridiculously political. Bragg should have stuck with his original position.

Meanwhile, while Democrats look bad and political, Trump is rising in the polls. If this all ultimately ends up in nothing, I can’t imagine the meltdowns on the left when they thought they finally got him on something. It’s going to be glorious to behold.

I find it hard to believe that over $100K of Trump’s money would be dispensed without Trump’s OK or a Trump contractual obligation.

Probably not only dissension in the DA's office. I think Alvin Bragg is just dumb enough to believe the propaganda the leftist media puts out that everybody hates Donald Trump.

My guess is some very powerful people in New York who like their friend Donald Trump and don't want to see him railroaded on a bogus charge are letting the DA's office, and the rest of city hall, hear that loud and clear.

And now he wants to delay until some new cause celebre appears to distract the media (and us) so he can quietly drop the case without losing too much "face".

“Between 2012 and 2016, COHEN concealed more than $4 million in personal income from the Internal Revenue Service, avoiding more than $1.3 million in income tax. COHEN also made false statements to a federally insured financial institution to obtain a $500,000 home equity loan. Finally, in 2016, COHEN made or caused two separate payments to women to ensure that they did not publicly disclose their alleged affairs with a presidential candidate in advance of the election. In one instance, COHEN caused American Media, Inc. (“AMI”), which was identified in previous court filings as “Corporation-1,” to make a $150,000 payment to one woman; in the other, COHEN made a $130,000 payment to another woman through an LLC he incorporated for the purpose of making the payment. COHEN was reimbursed for the latter payment in monthly installments disguised as payments for legal services performed pursuant to a retainer, when in fact no such retainer existed. COHEN made or caused both of these payments in order to influence the 2016 election and did so in coordination with one or more members of the campaign.”

Well, I guess you would like to be on that Grand Jury.
A lot of wealthy people just tell their lawyer/s or problem solver person/s, “Take care of this.”
And what do you think of the former CFO of the Trump organization in regards to his actions?

Your beliefs have no relevance in Trump’s disbursement of funds.

Now that would be an interesting kettle of fish if Fat Alvin and his twinkies don't have enough to get a grand jury clean bill.

It was always in trouble. Bragg and his globalists handlers are just trying to figure out a way to get Trump shown in handcuffs. I think they will find a way. Remember, the demorats depend on lies to cover up their lies and are mostly successful.

The case was always going to be thrown out.

Don’t be fooled…they are up to something! Today’s cancellation means nothing. They are reconvening tomorrow. Too many on our side are celebrating prematurely. The rats are evil and will do whatever it takes to nail Trump’s election coffin.

Earlier this week, Nancy and Paul Pelosi were seen arriving at in airport in New York City. Some speculated Nancy was there to have a front row seat at the indictment announcement scheduled for today.

If Nancy and (anybody got a spare hammer?) Paul are seen returning to San Francisco before Bragg begins to brag, she may be forced to admit defeat, at least for right now.
Maybe she was hoping to be called before the Grand Jury.

... she may be forced to admit defeat, at least for right now.

That will never, ever happen.

She may be defeated, but she'll never admit it.

A "no bill"? That's extraordinary if true.
