When a country is attacked, the only appropriate course is to respond with massively disproportionate force, as we did against the Japanese in World War II. Israel should treat Gaza as the Allies treated Dresden and other German and Japanese cities to end that war. Israel made a mistake in withdrawing from Gaza, and Gaza has been a thorn in its side ever since. This should be the last time.
In fighting this war, the Israelis should not distinguish between Hamas and non-Hamas, any more than we distinguished between members of the Nazi Party and non-members when we crushed Germany. And I don’t want to hear one goddam word about civilian casualties. Civilian casualties are what happen when you start a war.

When you're invoking the bombing of Dresden as your template, you've lost the plot. But the Powerline crew has long been in decline, imagining that it's 1994 or something, and that what we need to do is get back to "Reagan's America." Quite pathetic.

It’s a side point, but choosing Dresden as an analogy was a bad idea. The 1945 bombing of Dresden did nothing to help end the war. It was more of a terror and a revenge thing.
Even Churchill had serious doubts about the value of the bombing.

Good question. But I don’t think so and here is my reasoning. While I think our intelligence Services would do just that right now because they’re all so far out in left field and Israel is the enemy according to the Democrats, I think our intelligence services have deteriorated and are not capable of having known this attack was coming.
One possibility which I’m going to admit is pretty far fetched but not impossible considering the anti- Israel bunch running Washington now. Considering that some of the Biden handlers are so anti-israel, is it possible that some section(s) of US intelligence actually assisted Hamas?

To a degree Hinderaker is correct.
But he doesn’t go far enough.
1) Raze Gaza. Literally destroy everything there.
2) forcibly deport Gaza’s inhabitants to Iran.
3) Enemy soldiers should be summarily executed. No prisoners, no quarter, and no return of bodies.
You don’t try to live with cockroaches, and the Pali’s are the equivalent of cockroaches.
