Cats have always been known for their mysterious and independent nature. They can be a source of unconditional love and comfort for their humans, but they also possess a streak of cunning and aloofness. In a recent incident, a homeowner found himself locked out of his house, with the keys safely inside. Little did he know, his feline companions held the power to either let him in or leave him stranded outside.

Our parish person emailed me back. Unexpected! Maybe she reasoned, reasonably, that the easiest thing is just to provide what we need, so we’ll stop bothering her.

I bought some of those blankets, but Chip has never uses them, except when he gets on the sofa to explore. I put them on to cover it at night, in case he wants to sleep there. I often see little feetie impressions when I get up in the morning, but no body dents. I’ll put one in his carrier, too.

I figured I’d take it out about once a week for overnight, and he can explore it, and then when the time comes, it won’t be alien to him.

Well! As we say, that’s encouraging!

I lived in Houston for a while. That’s HYOUston, not HOUSEton for you New Yawkers.

Let me know when you can swing a glass through the air and get enough water for a drink.

Is that a Bengal? My sis had one years ago. Most excellent and cool cat!

That is correct, we are having Houston-like weather... damn close to being able to fill a glass with water by swinging it through the air...

We usually don’t get it quite as bad as it has been this Spring...

The poster says its a Savannah Cat, bred from a serval with a previously cross-bred female. Don’t know if it’s true, but he’s cute.

Right. I’ve seen some episodes on Animal Planet about Savannahs. Way cool. Half wild. Gorgeous.

I wouldn’t feel comfortable expecting a cat with that background to live in my house. It seems like you’d have to build a fantastic “catio” for him.

I love seeing all the different cats posted here, because for now, they’re the only cats I get to see. Oh. Except for the dead one on the road this morning. That was super sad.

I’m so glad Chip is happy hiding in his cave.

Both my kids have told me today that my presents “won’t be here until after” Mother’s Day and my birthday. That’s OK. Neither one of them are getting anything but a card!

Life is like that sometimes. I don’t think about Mother’s Day, because we just had my mother’s birthday.

On the positive side, I was able to get a meeting scheduled for Lourdes and me with the Safe Environment Coordinator at the Parish office. Yay! See how easy that was? Just reply to my email.

I feel good that both of them even remembered that I qualify for celebrating Mother’s Day. There have been an awful lot of Mother’s Days where I was the one who mentioned them for others. But you know what? It doesn’t seem to matter. I love my kids either way, and that’s all I care about!

When Igor was still with us, it was his birthday, FD’s birthday or Mother’s Day, then my birthday, then FS’s birthday, then Father’s Day and then it was all over with until Christmas. The only thing that’s missing is Igor’s birthday. We’ve just substituted PW’s birthday for that, but they’re all clustered until Christmas. Weird!

I hope so. I had a cramp in my calf last night that work me up, plus we had the thunderstorms. There’s no Scouts tonight because of a schedule conflict for some of the leaders, so maybe I can have an early bedtime.

Amazon or Walmart gift card?

I’m a little curious about what a Parish Safe Environment Coordinator does, but I’m a little afraid to ask.

If I could afford anything but a greeting bard, then I’d probably spring for a Walmart gift card. Their tastes are too expensive for my budget to spring for anything more.

Makes sure we follow the Diocese’s regulations about things like two-deep leadership, training for volunteers working with children, background checks, appropriate leadership, rooms with windows, and so on.

The reason there’s a snafu is that the Diocese changed its system for youth protection training. People who were certified under the old system have to do the new one, but if they don’t remember their old username and password, or if they have a new email address, it’s really confusing, and they can’t just make a new account.

I’m told that our coordinator can print out a list of everyone who was certified in the old system, and their usernames. We can compare that to a list of our current volunteers, since some of the previous group will have moved away or no longer be volunteering. Then we can set up new accounts for people who aren’t currently certified.

It could work.
