Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Good grief! I just went to the store. Didn't realize I was gonna have to carry the groceries up to the new place. Wouldn't have bought so much.

Hope there's room in the freezer. I spent the mortgage check at Sam's Club.

I didn't really birthday shop yet. This morning was a selfish self kinda trip. ;-) I got some good dark chocolate (the only kind I's supposed to have, and only once in awhile), some almonds, some steelcut oats, and some more mate tea stuff. The chocolate is the baking kind - a bulk bag of random chunks, but very good quality Belgian chocolate. I'm going to melt some and mix in a few almonds for dessert one of these days.

This afternoon we're probably going to Wal-Mart and such like in search of bother gifts. I have no clue what to get him, so we'll see!

Oh, and I just finished rereading PoA. It was interesting reading it with a more complete perspective of what different things meant. There were details I didn't catch the first time.

I'm feeling a bit softhearted toward Sirius agin. I mean...after all, he DID lose his best friends, had all his other friends think HE did it, and spent 12 years in prison for their murder. That's rough. Very rough. No wonder he's a bit grouchy at times...

A bit softhearted? Well, that's a start, anyway. And he does 'grouchy' very well. Sulky, maybe, is more like it. And there's always new things you notice on a reread. Like in the first book, nobody cared where the motorcycle Hagrid was riding came from until PoA came out.... Rowling is vey good at dropping hints. One's almost tempted to assume that any name she mentions will appear at some point as a character...

Sounds like a nice trip! I finished the mulch errand - at least I don't have to spread it! - and am almost ready to start calling apartments.

*laughing* And I'm going "Oh no, don't worry about it. This is just fine!"

Sometimes, I am completely oblivious to my surroundings. Sheesh!

Good thing I have friends like you that save me from setting myself and others on fire! We could have had Scott do the headline....
