Now YOU'RE talking about my childhood. My adders:
Once in a blue moon, Dad would sit me in his lap, and let me steer the Valiant down the street.
After Sunday dinner we would go sit on the Davenport in the parlor, or maybe we would go sit on the veranda.
When you picked up the phone, you might hear the neighbors talking.

Ladies wore hats and white gloves to church. LOL
My aunt used to bobbie-pin Kleenex to my head to go to church, because I didn't have a hat. :-)

"Heeeere's Johnny!" is a scary greeting from Jack Nicholson, not a warm welcome from Ed McMahon.
I'm old enough to know that the Shining was made in 1980.

Hell, my granddaughter was born in 84 and her brother in 88. Both were born on the same date four years apart. That day is 9/11...

Born in 65. I remember the stores used to close on Sundays when I was little. By the time I was in the teens they started staying open all through the weekend. There weren't any shopping malls until the 80's . Winter break was called Christmas vacation. People said "merry Christmas" not "happy holiday". Spring break was called Easter vacation-these terms would even be printed on the school calender without fear of reprisal from the ACLU. You could display a nativity scene without fear of the PC Gestapo coming to get you. "Sunday dinner" was a special meal for the family get-toghether.
Now can some one please bring me my prune juice and fetch me my cane?

We also played kickball in the street, slept out in the yard overnight, or walked or rode our bikes 3 or 4 miles to the pool where we spent the ENTIRE day.

Do you remember that stereo records were a new thing in the late 50s, early 60's? I had one that had the music on one side and the voices on the other.
