Uh oh...A Jeffersonian. OK--we'll let bygones be bygones. I'm a big tent Federalist so you are welcome to this list. :)

LOL, I consider the American Revolution as one of the most poorly "hyped" events in human history. No good movies, no mini-series, no Burns crockumentary. I am fascinated by it, and wonder what Washington, Adams, and Jefferson would think of what their creation today. I'm guessing that no matter which side of the federalist - republican argument they were on then, they can't be pleased with what is here today.

Hello Pharmboy,
consider me signed up.

Yep...we're on the same page, friend. There's nothing like the story of the RevWar, and Hollywood can't get it right (
The Patriot was ok, but it was really
Lethal Musket).
The truth of the Revolution was better than anyone can make up.

Actually, PBS did a six part miniseries called "Liberty!" a few years ago that was really quite good - I believe it's available on video if you'd like to check it out.
To: Senator Bedfellow
Indeed...based on the book by Tom Fleming. I am a memeber of the RevWar Rountable in NYC, of which he is an officer. He is a great guy.

I'll rent it on your recommendation, FRiend. Truth is, the PBS production credit led to my immediate rejection of its credibility, and my (admittedly biased) opinion that PBS would present King George as "misunderstood."

A natural reaction, to be sure. But it really is quite good, IMO, if you can get past the James Taylor song over the credits - not a big James Taylor fan myself :)
To: Pharmboy
That's the one - the book is also excellent, needless to say.

Please don't sign me up, but ping me once in a while for off-list stuff as you've done. Thanks! Here's a title I saw while shopping Monday (or maybe it was on Saturday).

You got it...not on list.
The author of that book (Tom Fleming) is a terrific guy and has written several books on the RevWar including Liberty!
