And now for tonight’s Dinklemeyer toon.

This cartoon is a show of the strip’s early days. I hadn’t fully created the world I wanted to yet, so I had to experiment with new ideas. In this one, I introduced Karen, a hot popular girl whom Freddy has a crush on. But he is too afraid to talk to her, and she does not notice him at all.

This showed something I haven’t tried much in my FReeptoons: drawing attractive women is an interesting challenge for an artist (especially a cartoonist). It’s something that I always like to try. Drawing a babe is a challenge because it has to be absolutely perfect: one thing wrong or misdrawn, and the whole drawing looks awful and deformed. It’s a very precise thing to do.

Unfortunately, while it was a good idea on paper, it never really came together right. Karen makes one other appearance later on, and then she vanishes from the strip forever. Despite the promise it showed, I just couldn’t think of anything to do with the idea. This is not the first time that will happen.

As usual, the full archives are on my home page, down at the bottom.

I've got to run somewhere inconvenient, so I will be back to chat with people in an hour, maybe less. See y'all.

Enjoy.

Teddy The Whale in all of his blubbery, bullying glory. You have captured the essence, and putrescence, of the grand git.

Hey, I like your toons. Not for nothing, but everyone does the hot-girl-shy-guy thing. It's probably best it didn't go anywhere...Have you ever considered the oblivious guy/obsessive girl angle?

Wow. His essence. I wonder if Teddy drinks a lot after big meetings in the Senate...

There is another hot girl character that will show up later. IN this case, she is hot and popular, and talks to him a little bit and secretly loves him. HOwever, he is oblivious, and he starts mumbling whenever she's around.

Unfortunately, that one didn't work either. There just wasn't anything I could do with that.

Great job P...when can we expect some Mohammed fare. I promise you'll be world famous quickly. Just be careful.

Destiny is calling...and so is the non-islamic world.

As you know well...the pen is mightier than the sword (of Mohammed).

Islam must die...we must expose it for what it is.

You like the Islamic toons, don't you? I can't make any promises about it, because with doing political cartoons, your material comes from what's going on in the world. Wait till a terrorist or mullah or the president of Iran or someone like that comes out and says something, and there's usually a good chance I'll be making fun of them.

Yes it is. For some reason, Freddy and his little world was more interesting than other characters populating the school (you'll see what I mean later).
