Prayer Request (Passing of a World War II Vet)
January 14, 2006 | Self

Posted on 01/14/2006 6:12:23 PM PST by wmichgrad

I would like to request that you keep in your prayers the soul of my grandfather, Liberato (Rod) Rodriguez, who passed away peacefully earlier this evening, and his family.

My grandfather was a great man who dedicated his life to his wife and family. He was a World War II Veteran who earned a Purple Heart by taking several bullets to the stomach and leg. Ironically, he nearly died while recovering from his injuries from a bout of the hiccups. I guess he was unable to hold down any food or water for many days. Other than that, I do not know much about his time in the service during the war, as he never cared to talk about it.

He was married to his wife for over fifty years before she passed away a few years ago. He raised two daughters, each of whom had one son, and was lucky enough to see the birth of two beautiful great-grandchildren.

I would ask that you especially keep in your prayers my mother, Rosa Host. As of Tuesday she will have buried both of her parents and her sister.

Thank you and God bless,

Eric Host

Prayers for your family, and especially your mom. Your grandfather sounds like he was a wonderful man.

Off topic, a sure fire cure for hiccups is a lemon wedge drenched in worcheshire sauce.

May the Heavenly Father surround your family in His providential care, and bless you with His love, and tender mercies of comfort, strength and peace.

It is so very sad on a personal level, because we mourn the parting of loved ones, but it is sad for the country that the WWII generation is passing on with more frequency now. My daddy and his brothers were WWII Vets. They all have passed away too. We can be thankful for the memories and the legacy. God bless.
