MANCHESTER, Pa. -- A cat interrupted a catnap, possibly saving two lives. Jean Poole and her 9-month-old granddaughter were dozing Tuesday in Poole's home in the Newberry Estates mobile home park. Poole's 7-year-old cat, Princess, woke them up, meowing loudly. Poole got up, smelled smoke and heard crackling flames. She went to check the wood burning stove in the living room, and saw flames at the picture window. With fire blocking the front door, Poole grabbed the baby and went out the rear door. Then she returned to get Princess. "She woke me up. I don't know if I'd have smelled the smoke otherwise," Poole said. Arriving firefighters found flames were shooting through the roof. Scott Glassmyer, assistant chief of the Newberry Township Fire Company, said the blaze apparently started accidentally in a trash can outside, ignited the underside of the mobile home, spread inside the siding and broke through to the interior.

I had 2 cats that would go for walks with me when I walked the dog. I had another cat that would fetch little balls of newspaper that I would throw, bring them back to me and drop them at my feet for another go round.
This cat would also walk from one end of my studio to the other end, on the rafters, beams and supports, about 13 to 22 feet off the floor casual as could be. Like a little kitty highway.

My cats show me they love me all the time.....they come to me allt he time and want to sit on my shoulder, whatever to get petted...they love to play, be brushed and talked too. They are clean, neat, quiet, adorable, intelligent, small, friendly, funny, playful, stay still, don't drool, don't stink, don't have to be let out or walked...i could go on and on.
A dog is like having a smelly kid.

My cat lets me know all day, every day that she loves me. She's a sweet girl, very people oriented, and the best pet I've ever had.
Don't get me wrong - I've had dogs in the past and I love them to bits, but they're too needy and very high maintenance. Not to mention that doggie smell...

All I have to do is head towards the kitchen....they're always on my heels. The little beast on the bottom is always first downstairs in the morning to get fed, even beating Tomas to the food bowl (which I thought was impossible.) Someday she's going to run between my feet and send the "opener of the cans" headfirst down the stairs.

too needy and very high maintenance. Not to mention that doggie smell... Amen! My kitties are little furry pieces of heaven, for me. Can't live without kitties.
My dog, although great with my kids and very sweet, annoys the hell out of me.

Those were their baby pics, taken right after I adopted them. They've grown quite large and have so much personality! They're just about seven months old now.
Chloe is on top, with the orange nose, and Tori is on the bottom.

Cats are too independent. They don't need you.My cat (of uncertain age, although around 13) has decided the best place to be when I'm at the computer is in my lap. I would not mind this at all except for two things: (1) She's the type of cat who never seems to retract her claws all the way, and (2) she never quite seems to find just the right spot in my lap.

The benefits of cats to dogs are tenfold. As someone who has both, I don't agree. Both species are perfectly capable of benefitting their human flunkies as needs be. ;-)
