And now for tonight’s Dinklemeyer bonus:
Image hosting by Photobucket

This is my least favorite of the Dinklemeyers. Nevertheless, fairness dictates that I run it anyway.

This was the first real “story” I did, meaning that what happened in the first strip continued over into the next one.

The character of Stephanie was a hot girl whom secretly had a crush on Freddy, but he was completely clueless (although readers would tell me that she really looked more like an alien than “hot”). It wasn’t a bad idea, but it just never went anywhere. She made one other appearance in a future strip, and that was it for her.

In this strip, a lot of people are confused by Freddy’s dialogue. What it is is that he’s so shy and nervous when she tries to talk to him, he mumbles and babbles incoherently. “Ou thee” = “you see.”

Stephanie didn’t work out, but the strip was still very young at this point. I was toying with ideas and introducing new characters. When you draw a regular cartoon series, it’s interesting to see how a whole world is created almost by itself. More regular characters will be introduced from here, and in my opinion, the rest of the strip only goes up and up in quality.

Sorry, everyone. My internet connection went out for a while there. But I'm back, hopefully, unless it goes out again.

Let me guess - dial-up.

No, actually I do have a high-speed cable connection. This box on top of the computer has flashing green lights. Some of the lights went out, and the internet just quit. I can't explain it.

Oh, I guess they can go wrong too.

I have a dial-up - it's flimsy.

I just got kicked off again for a long time, and now I'm back again.

This needs to stop. I can't live without the internet.

It's playing with me like a cat.

I can't have this. I'm used to instant gratification-style internet. It's killing me.

Only faster.

Since you have dial-up, I would assume that yours is playing with you slower.

That was happening to us for a while. We'd have to shut down the computer, pull out the cords going into the black box (not the cable; the other two); plug them back in, and re-start.

Does that work? Maybe I should try it if it happens again.

Yes, it teases me - I want the connection just to break, but it just lingers painfully.

It worked for us.When we called tech support that's what they told us to do.

We were experiencing other problems at the time; tons of pop-ups, slow-downs, etc. We obviously had picked up a virus. We eventually ended up reformatting the hard drive.

It was an older computer. Now we're using son's spiffy, newer one while he's over in the sandbox.:)

I will definitely try that if it happens again, but so far, so good.

We were experiencing other problems at the time; tons of pop-ups, slow-downs, etc.

You need a free spyware remover. That will cure the problem instantly with no cost.

It's like it's dying, gasping to hold on as long as it can. And we sit there, staring at the CPU, trying to figure out for ourselves what's wrong.
