My Daughter Will Be Starting University of Texas in September...

Well, we just registered. We were down in Austin on Tuesday and Wednesday, did the tour and she fell in love with the campus, the town and the people.

Just posted this to get any comments or advice from my Freeper colleagues who are Longhorn alumni and/or Texans who know about the school.

If you think they love the University now---just wait until FOOTBALL season! It is not a sport in Texas; it's a religion. I can't wait. (Which reminds me---make sure your daughter gets set up for tickets. Nothing ties you to UT more from the get-go than going to a home field game... and you've got to learn "The Eyes of Texas" and "Texas Fight" BEFORE the game!). Man, now I'm getting nostalgic...

Not good news here for UT.

I put my son into UT at Austin and he partyied(sp) and screwed up the whole year. I told him when he got back home (in Houston) to go ahead and get himself the hamburger flipping job that will now be his career. He did and after a while begged me to give him another try, I did.

Long-story short, he's now has a PhD in physics and is FReeper 'Charge Carrier.' He got his PhD from ASU (Arizona State University) after they recruited him to work in their super-conducting program. He is presently managing one of the government funded satellite programs in the LA area.

"LOL! Either he matured, or they don't party in Arizona!"

I made him live at home (on probation) while he got his BS at the University Of Houston. He struck up a strong friendship with Paul Chu that matured him and influenced his future studies. He was so excited about his work/studies with paul that he seemed to stay there all the time. Miracles do happen.

"But seriously folks, he's a great guy...and I never met an Aggie I didn't like."

Will Rodgers?

I had a VP at TI who had a degree in WAR from A&M. Aggies were/are more serious than Longhorns. (Ahem)

It is the truth...but (full disclosure), I've only known three Aggies in my life.
