I understand your point. But I don't look at race at all, maybe others do.
Anyway, the facts will come out one way or another.

hmm that is an interesting game to play. Maybe MSNBC will play that with their news stories

Right, directly you didn't. You began with your idea of why she was hated, seems you felt pity for the woman you think may have been raped?
You won't sick up for boys falsely accused of rape, they should never have hired a stripper...but a stripped needed sticking up for?

If she was raped, I do have sympathy for her. Wouldn't you? I think the stripper deserves as much leeway as some have given the guys. None of us really knows who is telling the whole truth. They could both be telling bits and pieces of the truth for all we know.
The facts will come out and whomever is lying deserves to be punished. I hope all involved learn a valuable lesson.

I understand your point. But I don't look at race at all, maybe others do. Then maybe you should be the DA? Nifong is obviously factoring Race & votes into his equation, because the facts on the table don't seem to show a very strong case. And you know these Dukies are going to have the very best defense lawyers when this goes to trial. Lawyers so good that Nifong is going to look like a bigger idiot than he already does.

"Hopefully some others have some ideas on why there is so much hatred directed towards this woman on FR?"
I would say that one issue is the double standard on race. These guys are racist because they allegedly raped a black woman. Anytime a black is the victim of crime by a white, the white is assumed to be racist and the crime a hate crime.
Let's apply that logic to black on white crime. What would the outcry be if every time a white woman was raped by a black we called it a hate crime and say she was targeted BECAUSE she was white. Also include assaults, robberies, burglary, auto theft, drug crimes........
The cries of injustice would be heard all the way to Massachusetts. But whites are told to shut up and except the guilt of being an evil white person.
Just a thought, I could be way off. It might just be because she was done this before. So she has no credibility. If she is a victim that is sad, but each individual makes their own reputation. That is way I try to teach my kids values like honesty and respect for yourself and others. Something, it appears, her mother forgot to teach her.

We have a "friends and family" plan when it comes to Freepers and crime.
The only folks you will find it easy to attack for being criminals are folks without friends or family members who post here.
I wouldn't put it past some of the "witnesses" to have found reason to post on FR.

How strange ~ watching FOX (I don't watch CNN, EVER!) I got the distinct impression that Murdoch's people were taking the side of the team against this otherwise unknown poor woman with two young children.

The "facts" business has recently come into disrepute. Appears that the primary source Duke University used in this case was a policeman who overheard part of a cellphone call between another policeman in a different police force with an unknown party about unidentifiable events.
I'd suggest your reliance on what are, at best "factoids" of no significance, does not advance the position of the players.
Remember, there's a commonly used date rate drug out there that makes the victim believe she (or he) was raped even if no rape took place.

That was my impression also when the story first broke. Of course, lately I have skipped any coverage of the story.

THe idea that FOX would ever support a black stripper against a bunch of white athletes (a vanishing species, eh) is simply not believable.

Do tell.... I've never heard of a "date rape" drug that makes anyone believe they've been raped even if they haven't. Does that then mean that someone can be charged with rape even if no rape occurred...but the "victim" believes she was raped?

actually white athletes are more prominent today, than in the last 20 years, even in basketball, the MVP for the NBA for the last 2 years has been white as well as this years for the NCAA and the runner-up as well.

Didn't mean to.
Anyway, thanks for the notes. I'll watch for them during the next NCAA basketball tournament. No doubt somebody will show up.

Now, concerning your question about whether or not someone can be prosecuted for rape even though he victim only believes a rape happened ~ in a situation where you've administered a lifethreatening poison to someone without her knowledge, I'd think a prosecution for rape would get you out of prison sooner!
