Throw the Bums Out

Posted on 05/26/2006 9:27:08 AM PDT by bibarnes

It is my opinion that our elected officials have become completely out of touch with reality (out side the capitals)and should be removed from office at the next election

TOPICS:
KEYWORDS: uselessvanity; vanity
This may sound radical and may get pulled, but I would that FR was open enough to allow a free exchange of inforamtion. It is my opinion that our elected officials have become completely out of touch with reality (out side the capitals)and should be removed from office at the next election. It was never the intent of the Founders to have professional representation. Now I know that one argument against this is that it will give the beuracrats more power because they would be able to sandbag until their elected supervisor was replaced. That can be addressed with a bit of cooperation between the outgoing and incoming reps. The time to do this would be during primaries and that would not upset the balance of power. I don't want to see a Speaker Pelosi or Majority leader Ried. I do want to see my representatives representing my wishes and communicating with us on why they couldn't. The attitude inside the beltway is that we are the unwashed masses and "don't understand". I have a pasture full of manure that doesn't come close to stinking like that statement does. I may live in a small rural town in the south, but I was eucated at a time when you had to pass your exams or get left behind. It doesn't take a DC address to be smart. OK I'm off my soap box and am interested in the comments, suggestion, and threats this produces.

hell, how about bringing them up on charges for failing to uphold their oath to uphold the consititution? I.E., allowing the country to be invaded.

I was just saying "Throw The Bums Out" on another thread. Throw ALL of them out, every single one! There is a terminal cancer thriving in DC and it's time for some serious surgery!

No my friend we all understand too well... All of our elected officials are playing for middle ground both on the left and the right. Perfect example the Hayden approval the Dems will say things like (Why would any Dem Senator vote Yea for this appointment the public doesn't approve of wiretapping we need to stand up to Bush his polls are in the toilet) Then RINO's like Spector will vote Nay and instead of the GOP ostricizing him and slamming the Dems down they leave it alone play to the middle don't make a scene score 1 point. Next week Harry Reid will be on the TV launching some Bull crap dirt towards the President or the GOP i.e., RACISTS... etc and he will get MSM coverage and if the GOP doesn't stand up and smack him down then they look weak.... The classic dillema of politics "You can't please all of the people all of the time"

I get by because I weigh what the most important issues of the time are and feel safe with the GOP in charge because my kids can go to school without my having to fear that some terrorists are going to swing thru and chop their heads off for nightly news coverage... which by the way the MSM would be more then happy to cover at the same time blaming Bush and Cheney.... NO WIN.... History will judge all things...

I rather like my senator. Dr. Coburn is pretty awesome and NO-ONE better speak of throwing him out in my presence! If you have problems with your own politicians, that that's your problem because you elected but don't go painting with such a broad brush as to splay any paint on the good doctor.

My thoughts:

It is my opinion that our fellow freepers and their insipid vanities have become completely out of touch with reality and should be removed from FR at the next freepathon.

How is that ?

If the good doctor has been in office for more than 1 term then he has been there too long. The problem is that they all have to go so that no one winds up as a power center because of longevity. I like my Senator but wold vote her out during a primary for a different republican. I am not advocating a change in party makeup just in faces.

At this point I would vote for my mailman if he ran as a republican. We have got to get the entrenched politicos out and send a message that we are in charge and that Washington works for us, not the other way around.

Maybe a good way to start is at the local level, City councils and Mayors, County Commissioners, School Board Members etc. As it shows that it is working (and it will) move up the food chain to state government util we reach the Feds and pull them off their high horses and laugh as they realize they can't work at a real job.

It is interesting to note that since John Edwards left the senate he has done nothing but campaign. What has Algore done since leaving and losing? What would Kennedy do if he were not a Senator? (No answer to that one this is not an R rated forum).
