The Guardian:

Injustice!!!!!!!!!!! All three goals were off sides... Ghana would have won their first World Cup...

That must be a slow feed. Meanwhile Brazil is attacking still and Cafu shoots at pont blank range while Ronaldinho is sitting in the middle.

You can almost see him saying "Come on!" as the pass would have led to an easy tap in. Odd. Second time Brazil has done that today. Adriano was guilty of it the last time (first half).

Yeah, I stuck another £3 on a draw then remembered Essien wasn’t playing…but too late.

I also then found out that Brazil have never conceded a goal to African opposition!

Anyway…the next game should be good. I’d get a can open. I think the NFL conversation should reach the end of the road.

Yeah yeah, I know that The Guardian talks balls but its sports commentaries are good.

hehe.

But, the second goal gave the Brazilians a comfortable cushion, just as they were looking vulnerable at the back.

England will make bacalhau out of the Brazilians in the semi :-)

"I think the NFL conversation should reach the end of the road."

How about the off sides conversation?

No really, I don't take soccer all too seriously... I just like to watch and play on occassion.

It's funny you mentioned that because I think many folks forgot about Ghana losing such a great player from their team. In fact, he may be heading to the airport right now to get to Chelsea's training camp. :)

Yep not doubt about it. England scored so many goals that we cannot count it anymore (sarcasm beyond belief).

I've been listening to the Sun commentary for the WC matches thanks to a FReeper who gave me the link. They are pretty entertaining.

Is the offsides discussion going to last? Brazil could have been up 5-0. If you are watching the game, you have one controversy.

Why didn't Adriano/Cafu make the final pass to lead to easy scores?

Okay, just replayed the offsides on the goal. Let's give Ghana an automatic birth for WC in South Africa.

Interesting that he’s so much better for Ghana. There will be discontent at Chelsea next season, I’m sure. Too many good attacking midfielders and not enough spaces to put them in. And going on current form I’d start looking for a new job if I was Frank Lampard.

So far 5 out of the 6 former Cup winners (Germany, Italy, England, Argentina, Brazil) that made it to Germany are through to the Final 8, a France victory would make it 6 out of 6.

I agree with you about the club dilemma. I don't know how you keep so many great players happy. There's no way any coach can satiate all those egos on the bench. It's just not possible.

One thing you can always count on is that the newest big money pickup will be seeing action. So someone else is going to have to surrender minutes.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Lampard and those guys. You know Sheva is going to start and Crespo may go back to Italy. Other than that, it's pretty murky.

I use to joke that Chelsea was the finest group of mercenaries on the pitch when they had only one English player. But now it's really crazy. It's an international all-star team.

I'm feeling that a dodgy France team is exactly the sort of team that Spain will choke against!

There have only been 7 countries that have won a World Cup, and only Uruguay did not qualify for Germany.

Ghana outshot Brazil 21-13. That doesn't happen often.

Of the 13 shots for Brazil, 11 were on goal. That's a great percentage.
