Room to rent for 50 cents.

Clinton was the worst President in history.

King of the road.

I liked his 60s music. Didn't remember he died in '72. RIP, Roger.

As one drives into Erick, Oklahoma (on Route 66, by the way), there is a sign that announces:

You Are Now Entering
ERICK, OKLAHOMA
Population: 1,023

Hometown of:
Lefty Frizzell
Sheb Wooley
and Roger Miller

Miller's name is added on a separate panel, in a slightly different typestyle and fresher paint (or, at least it appeared so in 1980).

Erick is justly proud of its boys...

Thanks, my parents and I were just remembering some of his music last week.

Back when I was in my teens, I had the privilege to meet Dottie West and "Whispering Bill". Both were genuinely nice people. That was in Dottie's "Country Sunshine" days.

Great songwriter and performer. "England Swings" is one of my favorites.

I've got to get this for my father!

Roger Miller was a huge talent, as well as a unique-but-exemplary product of his time. I'll look forward to reading the full story about him.

When I was six, I fell in love with his voice. God, what a voice. (Not singing ability, mind. Just the tonal quality that comes out in speaking.)

My favorite album was the soundtrack to Robin Hood, which had the whole fim on the album. (my second-favorite movie at the time, first being "Monty Python & the Holy Grail".)

I loved the man, and his music. His death was a great loss to the music world and his fans.

Thank you for the wonderful book review! You told me I'd hear more about the book, and here it is!

I have no way to get my hands on the book (long story), so I hope someone somewhere will tell me what the fight between Tompall and Waylon was about. If it's something I already knew but forgot, then I'll just ... well, be disappointed, I guess.

I know how hard it was to get Hag to sit down for an interview. I arranged one of the few he ever gave. Had a huge crush on him for a while, too - just a "friend crush" type of thing. He's much nicer than people give him (or he gives himself) credit for.

Sounds like the book is a great read, so maybe it'll magically appear on my doorstep some time or something. I was a big Roger Miller fan and didn't know "the rest of the story" about his life.

Thank you again!

"Well the moon is high,
and so am I.
The stars are out
and so will I
be pretty soon"
I think I know every song on the greatest hits album.
Remember;
One died
and a buryin'
Some cried
and six cared for me.
Lord I wanna be free.

I wrote this just for you since I know how much you love country music. :)

Seriously, though. You would like this book regardless. Even without Ozzie in it.
