so this explains why she keeps "resurrecting" - no one knows what the 5 "other" cylons look like, but somehow she "sees" them during the process?

we don't know, but there are 5 other "models" - and we don't know what they look like, which human form they have taken. Baltar needs to know if he is one of them.

Good episode, it kinda reminds me of the original BSG pilot.. This one has no cylon mines, and much more radiation to deal with..

From the way they keep talking about them like they are scared of them the other 5 models must be some prety bad dudes. (Cyborgs maybe?)

I get the impression the other 5 are going to show up right around the time Adam's fleet gets to Earth and make this a 3 cornered war against everyone. An excellent twist would be to have the using the old "classic" Cylons as well.

Tonight's episode was so heavy...once again BSG pulls off what few Sci-Fi shows are able to...hard to describe. This would be the second best episode of the season, next to Exodus II, but I might change my mind and move it ahead of that. Definitely in my top 5 (and I lump the Pegasus story into one three-four hour episode).

Or maybe they are completly indistinguishable from humans somehow, at least emotionally. Having them be toasters would be silly, and having them be like the skinjobs...there has to be a catch to the five. Perhaps they were much older than the skinjobs we know about, and got themselves deep into human society.

You know, part of the them, and part of their religion, seems to be things going around in circles - repeating. Some have theorized that the fleet will get to Earth, only to find it full of Cylons, living as humans, or something along those lines..hard to describe, and it's late. I'll try to dig up the theory.

I respectfully disagree on one point.

I think Kat's backstory was only introduced in this episode in order for her actions to be seen as 'redemption'. I find that rings very false, and a little manipulative.

Kat has been a model officer so far this season, having grown so much from her humble 'nugget' beginnings and subsequent 'wild' period. Had the writers chosen to focus on her existing personal journey, then her sacrifice in this episode would have taken on an entirely different meaning (as opposed to introducing an eleventh-hour 'dark secret' with no real emotional/continuity context).

Bottom line: I believe Kat's sacrifice would have rung just as emotionally true without the clumsy device they used. YMMV.

Excellent episode nonetheless.

Baltar doesn't think he's a cylon, he's just using that as a strategy to get to know who they might be and how to beat them.

Do you believe the charge Starbuck made about what Kat did before she was Kat in relation to what she was running? That's huge to the story.
