My main point was to let women know that men do compartmentalize

I believe men rationalize when we say that we compartmentalize.

How does one compartmentalize poison once it enters the body? The eyes that lust and objectify a child of God, made in His own image, through pornography are the same eyes that behold a beloved spouse or precious daughter.

Slowly, surely, God is doing his work in me, and one day I'll be totally rid of the wretched weakness.

It's great to read of your hope in God's healing grace to overcome what you describe as your wretched weakness. He has obviously been speaking to you in your conscience. He will give you the strength to overcome. I'll spare you the detailed testimonial, but I speak as a witness to His healing power in my own life regarding this issue.

For what it's worth, many who struggle to overcome the lure of pornography find that is helpful to recall that Jesus responded to the Devil's temptations by reciting scripture.

Fair enough. I understand what you are saying.

In this case I was trying (obviously not clearly enough) to say that that you can cheat on someone without committing adultery. I think I'd get a little upset if my husband constantly went on dates with another woman, even if they were not sexually involved. And I'm pretty sure the reverse would be true. In fact, if it wasn't I think I'd be a little upset. LOL.

Adultery is sex with someone other than your spouse...but there can be a lot of cheating between here and there...depending of course on what the meaning of is, is.

What has your husband done to help you with your problem. You certainly have one.

The problem isn't the porno.
The problem was him in the porno.

I think we mostly agree. It is very hard to make sweeping generalizations on most subjects without running into exceptions. (BTW, I believe that we ALL have sick souls...thus sin.)

That said, I was trying very hard to take religion out of the argument, simply because applying that lens to unbelievers is unfair. Free will is a very tricky issue, and while a committed Christian sees things through a relatively black and white lens, it is our responsibility to respect different reasoning systems for those who do not have the same faith framework, even if we do not agree.

Therefore, sans religion, one must come up with a rationale for a moral life. Commitment to another person means that you value a person's feelings as your own. (Ironically, the golden rule)

But, you are completely correct that sin is sin, no matter how we feel about it. And I will say, for myself and my own family, we believe pornography is a trap that would create disharmony in our relationship. I refuse however, to make that choice for others because it is theirs to make, not mine.

The greatest gift God gave us is free will and I believe I have an obligation to respect the free will of others.

That hollier than though attitude WILL come back to haunt you. I'm not sure if you'll remember this thread or not.

No porn, eh? Ever seen what was all over the walls in Pompei? Porn of some sort has been around since the beginning of time.

To a lot of people, they look squeaky clean," Clay explained. "They comb their children's hair right, and they pay their taxes, but the Bible calls us to something much higher than just looking the part."

Thanks for the link. This hits the nail on the head.

Lady, you're husband would have to be a "real man" to put up with a shrieking nag like you.

BTW, are you two related?

It is very strange that they are acting like Sara was the one doing the things her husband was accused of doing - they're implying that she was leading a double life, living with that creep while "promoting family values."

Why am I not surprised? It's bad enough that she has to deal with all of what her husband has done without the media making it like she was the one doing it.

Him being IN the porn would be a major stumbling block to living happily ever after.

Liberal democrats have no values with which to begin so they can't fall from grace; they are at the bottom already.

You call you and your wife making love, PORN??

Only on my good nights...

And yes, she knows about the terminology I use, and she will understand how I mean it, when she reads this thread. I have sent her the link, she'll get a kick out of this.

"On Sept. 28, one of the children confronted Schelske, 43, at the couple’s Franklin home when he was watching pornography on TV, the filing stated. The couple’s children are 2, 3 and 7 years old."

This above statement is where there is a problem with the porn itself. The problem with him "in" the porno would have only been between he and his wife, and how they would deal with it. But bringing it into the home with young children and having a child confront the father is a whole different story. Very sad for the whole family.

I also don't put it past any lawyer to try a case in the court of public opinion. It would be very easy to verify the allegations against the husband if there is forensic info. on the computer with the photos, etc. This situation would not be easy for any family; but even more sad to have everything played out in the public eye.
