Start-up program help

Operating system: Windows XP (Home)

How do I get this infernal Adobe Photoshop Starter Edition 3.0 from auto-starting every time I boot up? I've tried everything but regedit, and frankly I don't want to. Windows Defender gives me the opportunity to remove/disable it from start-up, but the darn thing keeps coming back. Please post any comments relating to cleaning-up the Start-up function below; I have a lot to learn.

Did you remove its shortcut from your Startup folder?

If you are talking about the icon, yes (out of Start-up and the system tray). It's just that every time I boot-up, the darn thing shows-up in the system tray again, and when I check to see, the program is running in the background AGAIN.

I'm tired of manually removing it (through Windows Defender) every day.

Don't get me started on Quicktime . . . but at least it listens when I tell it to knock-off.

Thanks...from the site:

Important: iTunes requires QuickTime be installed to function correctly. Download and install the latest version of QuickTime or iTunes (which includes QuickTime) if you want to continue using iTunes.

Maybe there's a way, if it must be left on, to not have it autoload.

Hmm, well the next thing I would do would be to remove the key in the registry, but since you don't want to do that, which I understand, maybe someone else has a better idea.

Unclick "Install icon in the system tray" under QuickTime advanced preferences.

Help me Kim Komando! LOL

I'm thinking of simply uninstalling and washing my hands of this mess. I only have one digital camera (Canon), and it came with ZoomBrowser software. I don't see why I need both.

Check the startup tab in your msconfig. It's probably still checked in there.

Have you looked in the Adobe Photoshop Options/Preferences to see whether there is an option for auto start-up? Some programs give that as an option.

There was an option that allowed it to automatically check for updates, which I disabled with no success.
