Breaking: Press release regarding Ted Haggard
New Life Church ^ | 11/04/06 | staff

Posted on 11/04/2006 2:16:36 PM PST by loreldan

We, the Overseer Board of New Life Church, have concluded our deliberations concerning the moral failings of Pastor Ted Haggard. Our investigation and Pastor Haggard's public statements have proven without a doubt that he has committed sexually immoral conduct. The language of our church bylaws state that as Overseers we must decide in cases where the Senior Pastor has "demonstrated immoral conduct" whether we must "remove the pastor from his position or to discipline him in any way they deem necessary."

The Swaggart legacy continues. There have been 17 well-known preachers that have ended lucrative careers with displays of public immorality. One wonders what brings it on, but excess money seems to be a thread binding it together.

From the letter: "We have decided that the most positive and productive direction for our church is his dismissal and removal."

In consultation with leading evangelicals and experts familiar with the type of
behavior Pastor Haggard has demonstrated, we have decided that the most
positive and productive direction for our church is his dismissal and removal.
In addition, the Overseers will continue to explore the depth of Pastor
Haggard's offense so that a plan of healing and restoration can begin.

I am assuming this is the Pastor with the Male escort and Methanphetimine problem?

Yes, and as you could expect from that type of person, one of those anti-evolution idiots trying to dumb down our schools.

Yes, the Church(s) has higher moral standards than our gubmint - who would have thought. I guess otherwise, we'd have many empty seats in gov't but I don't see that as a bad thing but very desirable.

Former Southwest Community Church Pastor David Moore had been a very popular minister, preaching weekly to huge crowds at his Indian Wells church. He had taken over as pastor in 1988, when the church had only 400 members. During his tenure, 12,000 people joined to his flock.
The Los Angeles Daily Journal reports that his “Moore on Life” business, which sold tapes based on his sermons, spread his message across the nation.
But in 2000, the teacher of Christian values found himself with his wife and another heterosexual couple in the backyard of a home. They were in a hot tub and the two wives were topless.
The couples decided to take some photos...............................

Reminds me sort of what happened at my old church (a Presbyterian Church in America congregation) when one of the elders was caught in adultery. The pastor asked us all to stay after the end of the 11:00 service for an important announcement; then the elder came up in front of everyone with the pastor by his side and admitted what he'd done and asked our forgiveness. The pastor then told us that the elder was dismissed from his position per the church bylaws and would be permanently barred from holding any leadership position in the church and that his remaining in the congregation would be handled by church bylaws (I don't remember the particulars). Then he led us in prayer for the man as all the other elders came up and hugged him and reassured him.

Yes, the man fell into sin, but the fact that he stood up in front of four hundred people, most of which he knew and who knew him, and confessed it, struck me as probably the hardest thing any of us would ever have to do. He was punished for it, but also forgiven. It was a fantastic example of how to handle something like that, on all sides.

I was really hoping that Rev. Haggard's semi-denial denials were true. Sadly, it sounds like they aren't.

Three rules for healthy church leadership--

1. Accountability
2. Accountability
3. Accountability

Never heard of this guy. Why is this little peccadillo important. A guy likes guys? Some do/Some dont.
Big deal. As long as he does not hit on me.

Still, the leftwing extremists will be coming out Wednesday morning complaining about "Gay Bashing at the New Life Church".

You really think poor pastors are immune to adultry and drug abuse?

I have a problem with referring to newly defrocked Haggard as Pastor Haggard.

I think this church org needs to get a clue on the meaning and value of words.

Hey, we didn't believe it either when Chuck Robb said he sat around naked in a not tub with Miss Virginia and all that happened was a "back rub".

Some things are simply not believable.

"They need to remove him".

They need to flay the hypocritical pervert alive! I wish I could be as forgiving as God is, but, I ain't!
There are no excuses for what he did, none, zilch, nada!
I've been hungry, I've been horny, we all have, but most of us don't betray the faith, just put this sorry POS aside, I don't want to hear his excuses!
