Excellent post. I have wondered along these lines for years. We don’t even know for sure how fast the earth was spinning 200 million years ago, ie., how long a day was, let alone how long the earth’s orbit of the sun took, ie., how long a year was.

I hope I live long enough to see what kind of creatures Lake Vostok holds.
