I believe its called Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress; I don’t know if the parents can sue on behalf of this Child of God, but I hope they look into it. The evil and cruelty of the other mother (a disgrace to the term “adult”) in orchestrating this outrage is beyond belief, particularly when as the parent of a teenager herself she knows just how vulnerable such kids can be.
My daughter is not allowed to have a MySpace account for this reason. Too much drama.
Lawyers will find a way.............
The puerility is astounding.
Eventually, many of us come to realize our imperfect legal system isn't the answer or the remedy for every tragedy. Some of life's happenings transcend mere "legalities."
I remember doing this sort of things almost thirty years ago on the UI-Champaign PLATO system. We were much less intense - it was more like a Turing test. A guy would represent himself as a girl and see how things went. Interesting stuff...SSZ
Civil Suit should be filed against the Fraud ers
Unfortunately, the parents bear much of the responsibility here. They are ultimately responsible for allowing their daughter to have the MySpace account in the first place, and every warning sign they mention in this article should have been seen by them BEFORE this whole incident unfolded.
From the article,- It does not appear that there will be criminal charges filed in connection with Megan’s death.-
Um, fraud? Stalking? Harassment over phone lines? The cops, when they want someone’s rear end, usually come up with lots of charges. For some reason, adults creating a fraudulent web persona for the purposes of harassing a minor child, with proof of harm caused, is not a big blip on the cops radar.
Since the web was involved perhaps the FBI can come up with somethigmn,I seem to remember fedral ant-stalking and anti-harassment statutes involving weband phone.
I agree. Horrid people. The pettiness of people never stops amazing me.
This is so heartbreaking.
Sick. Someone needs to pay.
In before the ban myspace crowd.
Those are some f*** up, SOBs. Poor kid, poor family.
It's not OK and she's not fine. And consider this. I remember kids for whom every day of junior high was like this. It's surprising that the teen suicide rate isn't higher than it is.
What this father did to this foosball table I would have done to these adults.... Unbelievable.
This story is incredibly tragic and disturbing. It would have been bad enough if kids had done this - but adults??
It’s too bad that the adults who created the fake page and tormented the girl aren’t going to be charged. It seems to me that criminally negligent homicide (or involuntary manslaughter) would be an appropriate and provable charge. And I wish the parents would go after the other family in civil court too.
God allmighty.
I’d have lost my mind, and burnt the other families house to the ground...just for starters.
And I would have been standing there as they tried to escape the flames.
And then I’d have gone to jail, a broken man.
What this family did is unbelievable.
If these fiends did this to a daughter of mine, their entire family would wake up surrounded by flames.
