The Two-Hour Event The special two-hour episode "Razor", which will serve as a backdrop for the events of season four of Battlestar Galactica, tells the story of Lee Adama's first mission as the commander of the battlestar Pegasus and the harrowing tale of that ship's desperate fight for survival in the immediate aftermath of the Cylon's genocidal siege of the Twelve Colonies.
Lee Adama's new XO, Major Kendra Shaw, is plagued by memories of her service and sacrifices under Admiral Helena Cain, who was able to save her ship during the Cylon attack but only by making Shaw and her fellow officers rationalize suicidal battle tactics and brutal war crimes against their own people.
In the crucible of war, Shaw must let her hesitation and doubts burn away, until all that remains of her is the honed edge of a living human weapon what Colonial veterans call "a razor." But an edge so fine cuts in more than one direction. It can cleave an enemy to pieces or it can carve away a person's soul.
The Razor Flashbacks From October 5 through November 16, SCI FI whets Battlestar fans' appetites every Friday night with Razor Flashbacks during all-new episodes of Flash Gordon. All the flashback clips will be available on SCIFI.COM immediately after broadcast.
Written by Michael Taylor and directed by Wayne Rose and Felix Alcala, these intense, roughly two-minute segments tell the story of young William "Husker" Adama's rookie Viper mission during the first Cylon war. In addition to fighting for his very survival against relentless Cylon centurions, Adama makes a terrifying discovery that will come back 40 years later to threaten him, the crew of the Pegasus and the survival of the human race.
This isn't footage you'll see in the premiere of Razor, so make sure to watch every Friday for a new flashback adventure, then see it again on SCIFI.COM!
It jumped the shark by season three and we stopped.
Too many asinine or ridiculous plot changes, retarded twists, and downright bad episodes. They should have made it a tight two or three seasons and ended it. Instead, it is now a soap opera a with all the accompaning baggage like loose plot threads, gaping holes, duex ex machinas etc.
It WAS the best show on TV.
Ok, but check out Razor. It is getting rave reviews. Apparently, the soap element is out.
It's character and story driven, rather than effects driven. It's got some of the best characters and dialog you'll see. All of the actors are perfectly cast in their roles.

There was a movie too?
But I can't say enough about the series. I'd guess that since buying the boxed set of DVDs, I've watched each episode at least 8 to 10 times. And they never get old, even though I practically know everything by heart.

For what they are tasked to do, Galactica is a low budget show. The papers and reports seen in each episode with four corners cut off are an in-joke on how they must cut corners to make the show. The “soap opera” aspects some complain of were the compromise the producers had to make in order to do the spectacular work most love to watch.
Galactica emptied the piggy bank to build the New Caprica sets and such special effects in that story arc such as Galactica entering the atmosphere in the liberation attack. The soap, or human shows thereafter brought the costs per show back into line.
Overall it was a good trade off. If the producers didn’t aim so high, would there be such a thread talking about the show?
That may all be true but IMO is irrelevant to my point.
The show sucks (now) because it blew the story for money.
Yeah, I know...its a business...but that is what happens when you get too greedy.
They took what was essentially STAR WARS or DUNE type of story arc and turned tried to turn it into a STAR TREK type arc. The result was AS THE BASE STAR TURNS or ALL MY CYLONS.
They should have wrapped it up in three seasons. I mean, does anyone know how long they are going to go with this? How they are going to tie up all the loose ends and plot holes?
To me Babylon 5 was the best Scifi show out there.. Firefly was a good show and I curse those fools at Fox for fracking up Firefly. They should have given the show a better chance... Firefly could have given Babylon 5 a run for its money imho..
That was pretty good. Lots of good editing by folks at youtube, real talent.
some cool links on here. Hope you’ve seen the 7 minisodes of Razor. Pretty cool, and they are not going to be in the movie. They are just extras. The reviews for Razor are very very good from the forum at scifi.
I second that motion. I love BSG, it's a terrific show, but I would put "Firefly" higher on the list. Absolutely outstanding, and a true travesty of network idiocy in its cancellation.
When it did get cancelled, did it finish so that it made sense? I ask this as a former fan of Twin Peaks...
When taken as a whole with the film “Serenity” as a pseudo-second season, yeah, it makes sense. I saw “Serenity” before I ever saw the show, my wife and I really enjoyed it, then we got the TV show DVDs off of Netflix. The TV show really expounds on why the events in the movie are so important, but the movie does an excellent job of standing on its own.
I’ll check into both of them. Thanks, as good viewing is hard to find.
That has to be hands down one of (if not THE) best episodes of the entire series!
Looks like a screener of razor is out on the torrent networks..
