Good Morning.
It appears a bi-partisan agreement to stabilize and rescue the financial markets has been reached, at least at the time of this posting: late Sunday night.
It remains to be seen whether the agreement will hold,what it'll cost the U.S. taxpayer, and how effective the measure will be...i.e. will it live up to the claims of its sponsors?
The President addresses the nation Monday, at 7:30 a.m. ET, before the markets open the new week.
I am home at last - didn't leave Portland until around 6 p.m. and so I ended up driving the last 12 miles in virtual darkness....a true thrill with dilated eyes. Anne would have gone with me had I known he was going to dilate both eyes, but...I was under the impression only the right would be affected....wrong :-)
I did have a tear in the retina and he "welded" it shut with a laser. He said there are many reasons why retina's tear - from congenital defects to injury and sometimes, they just tear. He said this could happen to me again or might never happen again. I can assure you I will be having a check-up every 6 months from now on. I will go back on October 22nd for Dr. Handleman to check me and if all looks good, he will turn me back over to Dr. Glantz for all follow-ups.
He paid me a nice compliment I think. He said "You appear to be in very good shape. Do you work out?" I said, "Well, no...not really." So then he asked me to tell him what I do. I started off by telling him I mow my lawns with a push mower, take care of what ever needs to be taken care of around this property, 25 sit ups each morning, I walk a lot, did the Komen 5K, etc. He kept shaking his head and saying, "no, no, no". So the bad news is that for the next 10 days...I am to do basically NOTHING. There were so many things he said I couldn't do that I started asking him questions about what I could do! He doesn't want me lifting, straining, picking up anything heavier that 10 pounds (sorry Charlie) doesn't want me to bend over, etc. In fact, he doesn't even want me to vacuum! I might as well be in prison :-( But, I am thankful the tear is repaired and I will behave myself. Daughter Laurie reminded me that the weatherman says rain for the next 10 days so I suppose I couldn't mow anyhow......sigh
Now, I am going to go cuddle with Andy and Charlie - say prayers of thanks that Dr. Handleman was able to repair the damage and that the Lord and my guardian angel got me home safe and sound.
Hi Bev!! I am an infrequent poster here but, I do have experience with a retina tear. I will keep praying that the procedure they did for you continues to be a success!!!
It has been 3 years this month since that happened to me. My tear was quite severe (I am very nearsighted and that contributes to the likelihood it could happen) and the first procedure didn’t help. I have had several procedures done to it and they just couldn’t get the retina to return to it’s previous functionality. As a result, I have pretty much no vision left in my right eye.
ANYWAY, please be sure and take care and don’t overdo anything. After each of my procedures/operations, I also could not exercise - especially no lifting or anything that required me to lie on my back.
Once they are sure your retina is “flat” and healing well, they will allow you to get back to your normal routines.
Thank goodness you got back OK driving by yourself. I remember very well driving with “white knuckles” when my eye was super dilated and I had to get from the ophthalmologist’s office to the retina surgeon’s office. UGH! But I was driving WEST in the late afternoon sun.
OK, I don’t want to scare you with anymore gory details!! I’m just glad to know you are doing so well!!!

Kevin Farley (a conservative and Chris Farley's brother) is the main actor.
The movie is directed by David Zucker (Airplane, etc.) who is a conervative. John Voight, Kelsey Grammar, James Wood and many other conservatives star in the movie.
I saw an interview with Zucker and he said that it was time for them to take a stand and not be blacklisted just because of their conservative beliefs.

Michael Moore is NOT in the movie. The Michael Moore character is played by Chris Farley’s brother. Other stars in the movie are James Woods, Kelsie Grammar, Bill O’Reilly, a country western singer who is gamous and whose name I can’t remember. The movie is produced and directed by David Zucker, the same guy who did all of the Airplane movies.
This movie makes fun of Michael Moore. I plan on seeing it and avoiding “W” by Oliver Stone (in which the Presiident is portrayed as an ignorant, illiterate, nimcompoop while Dick Cheney is portrayed as a sinister behind-the-scenes string-puller) and Bill Maher’s movie attacking religion.

GOOD early morning Lysie. I fell asleep early last night, so am once again up early.
It was SO hot here yesterday!!!! Stiffling. But the weatherguy said the temps could drop 30 degrees over the weekend.
YAY - global cooling. Or maybe just Cali Cooling.
I have seen very few bumper stickers and yard signs this year. NO McPalin bumper stickers, and maybe 2 O stickers.
I’ve seen many more McPalin yard signs, tho not so many in totality.
This election feels more like a fight to the death than a good old-fashioned election.

Nordp was praising this movie back a month or so ago. My take on it is that it’s a spoof of MM.
Tomorrow is the last PT visit at home. Today I go to get the staples out. We'll see what the dr. says about my recovery.

Thanks for the post Bev, and glad you made it home safe. Do try to take a driver when you must have your eyes dilated.
My 38 year old son has been diabetic since he was 11, and not too long ago, his eyes were drained of the gel within, reamed out by laser, and then filled back up with sodium solution. He’s fighting blindness, and so far is winning.
He had same restrictions - could not bend or lift. One does not want to undo what has been done.

I know I’ve left some people out, but thank you all for letting me know about the movie. I’ve heard the advertising on the radio and it is touted as a conservative movie. But then I got confused when I saw the commercial, it said something about Michael Moore and the main character looked like Michael Moore. Thank you for straightening me out.

Bev, you heard what DM said and what your doctor said. Be very careful. I’ll be praying for you during this recovery.
Re: Toby. He had his pacemaker replaced on Monday. For him this is a tricky thing because he has other medical issues as well. He hasn’t been very specific just what those issues are. Please keep praying for him.
