Tomlin is a really great coach and motivator. He was smart enough to keep Dick LeBeau on as defensive coordinator.

From what I recall when he was hired, Art Rooney Jr. told him he could pick his own staff but he had to keep LeBeau on as D-coordinator.

No doubt he probably would have done that on his own, but he didn't even have that option. LeBeau came with the job.

I was really disappointed in the way the Steelers played the season after their SB 40 victory. An 8 and 8 season after a Super Bowl victory is shameful.

Lot's of injuries that year including Big Ben playing demolition derby on his Rice Rocket without a helmet followed a month late with an emergency appendectomy. The boy wasn't 'right' for a long time after that.

The NFL didn’t want the Seahawks to win that game because the marketing would have been miserable due to the fact that the Seahawks are an isolated team (2,500 miles from another team)

Aside from the fact that your knowledge of geography is very poor, what is the logic in your charge?

What 'marketing' are you talking about? How does the NFL make money on the SB winner after the game is over?

I can understand the TV networks who pay very big bucks years in advance for SB broadcast rights wanting two big market teams in the game just to increase viewership, but SB XL was between two smaller market teams. But once the teams are decided, I fail to see how the league or the networks can increase their revenues by fixing the outcome.

Please explain.

It looks to me that Warner is only the 2nd QB to start the Super Bowl for two different teams.

Craig Morton (V with Dallas; XII with Denver) — lost both.
Warner himself is 1-1; Roethlisberger 1-0.

That would be correct. If the Cards win Warner will become the only QB to win Super Bowls with two different teams.

He told the media after the game that he quoted the poet Robert Frost to his team after winning the right to play in the Superbowl. It was clear that he sportswriters had no idea who he was quoting.

I like Tomlin a LOT.

The Immaculate Reception was my birthday present when I turned 7. We lived in Jersey, so I got to watch it live.

Please thank your son for his service.

My in-laws live in Escondido and I always think of the Marines when we drive past Miramar on our visits from the Burgh.

That doesn’t seem to matter to Rush...or me. The Rooneys are old-school Democrats and will be til the day they die.

Football success starts with the owners and the Rooneys are good people. If every owner was like Dan Rooney, trash like Ray Lewis, Adam Jones, TO and Chad Johnson wouldn't have jobs.

I think letting Woodson go was a smart move. He still wanted to sign as a corner, but he never recovered his speed after tearing his ACL. He went to the niners and sucked at corner. It wasn’t until he played saftey at Baltimore did he perform well.

Except that the Arizona organization/Bidwell family have done very little to earn this.

If not for a couple of hits in the draft on excellent wide receivers, hire a decent coach for once, favorable playoff seeding against so-so oppposition, and Kurt Warner’s magic streak, the Cardinals would be where they usually are at this time: HOME

They don’t even fly free agent prospects into Phoenix on the team’s dime.

Reveling here in The Burg over the Steelers' win and thought I'd check out this thread. You repeated the words of an idiot?! And then blamed the idiot?! What was that line from Forrest Gump? Oh yeah, stupid is as stupid does.

Go Steelers!

Yeah, it’s a scientific survey to see how many folks from PA crawl out of the woodwork, incensed, now.
