TEA PARTY U.S.A. - It's about YOU the HARD WORKING TAX PAYERS!
My thoughts ^ | April 15, 2009 | Cindy

Posted on 04/15/2009 1:14:15 PM PDT by Cindy

Today, the voice of Americans was heard.

The Tea Party U.S.A. is not a one day national event -- it's the continuation of a chain of events and activism that will strengthen our country.

We are doing this primarily without main-stream media coverage.

That's o.k.

Your voice is being heard without the main-stream media.

Keep it up my fellow, patriotic Americans.

Ahhhh, but how quickly will the "voice" fade?

The real impact will not be today...or tomorrow. The msm will make light of this "event" a month from now...two months from now, it will have been largely forgotten.

Remember: you heard it here first.

“Well, who watches CNN?”

I had CNN disconnected 3 years ago and I have never been sorry.

I am ready for a new party. I have never been a liberal and I don't want to vote for a candidate that carries water for liberals. The GOP in Congress act like they all wear petticoats. I am completely fed up and ready to join a new party that will vow to not be political.

Sounds like a dream!!!

Hedgecock seeks popular uprising (Just give me one minute to get ready - wink)
World Net Daily ^ | 4-14-09
Posted on April 15, 2009 1:23:01 PM PDT by puffer

Talk radio host and WND columnist Roger Hedgecock says the Department of Homeland Security report he unveiled should cause more than alarm for Americans.

“This kind of intimidation is so un-American,” he said. “I’m hoping people will rise up against it.”

He was interviewed today about his report by Greg Corombos of Radio America/WND.

This is about the taxpaying 47% of the population responding to the other 53% who voted themselves a raise at the taxpayer’s expense.

I just returned from participating in a Flemington, NJ, Tea Party. Time: Noon to 2PM. It’s about a 2-hr. drive from my house. When I left it was raining hard and steady. I didn’t have a high expectation that many would show up at the protest.

Needless to say, despite the rain and occasional sleet, I was pleased to see about 500 people there. It was right in front of the Hunterdon County Seat. The organizer brought a portable amp system along which he powered from his car.

Amplification was marginal, but various people spoke spontaneously. Everyone who spoke made thoughtful points and there was little or no Onada bashing. Mainly stayed focused on high taxes and voting all incumbents out regardless of party affiliation. The opinion of the crowd was that Republicans as well as Democrats contributed to putting us in the sorry place we’re in.

There was a police presense, but it was minimal (I saw three officers). Many people in vehicles went by blowing their horns and showing thumbs up in support. I was also surprised to see a range of age groups there. Discounting the kiddies, there were teens through old retired guys like me. I was especially surprised to see quite a number of working age men and women. Preponderance of crowd was white with one asian that I saw. Flemington and Hunterdon County are well-to-do entities. Do not have large black or hispanic populations. But, still, there are no doubt wealthy blacks who live there. Apparently they chose to sit things out. Such a shame.

I thought the organizer’s non-partisan theme was brilliant. It leap frogs over dem vs pubbie and emphasizes common economic and political concerns. That is the way to defeat both the demrat hardline leftists and RINOs who aid and abet them.

Some photos of a Small Town, USA Tea Party.

I expected 50 at the max and instead, about 500-600 showed up.

People like you who are willing to go out of their way, in bad weather to make your voice heard is what makes America great.

Thank you.

Cincinnati Tea Party Ground Report and Photos
RWNJ.ORG ^ | April 15, 2009 | RWNJ
Posted on April 15, 2009 2:51:50 PM PDT by rwnj.org

I heard an estimate on WLW of 7,000. My ballpark guess would have pressed higher than that just. The square was jam packed and people were filling Vine Street as well, so it was clearly a large crowd. Though I did see some people dressed as if they were there from work, the majority of people seemed dressed to be there for the long haul.

I personally saw a handful of counter-protesters (probably 8 or 9 total). I heard (but did not see) what sounded like 20 or so at one point chanting “O-ba-ma”, but they were quickly drowned out by some chanting of “U. S. A.” One of the counter-protesters I saw was chanting “White Supremacy.” I guess she thought Robert Byrd was coming or something. One carried a sign that said “Republican’s Fore Sell Cry Babies.” At least he spelled cry babies correctly. Most of the others were content to chant “O-ba-ma.” I saw a couple get asked questions like “What has Obama done that you like?” and watched them only come up with answers similar to “You’re a racist.” For the most part the protesters ignored the counter-protesters.

After a few speakers, the group marched from Fountain Square to City Hall. I noted quite a few people looking out of office windows watching and a few even giving thumbs up to the crowd as they marched by. A petition to reject stimulus money was handed over when we arrived at City Hall. The crowd stayed around for a while, chanting (”USA”) and singing (”God Bless America”).

Photos available on RWNJ.

Tea Party Total Head Count Thread (Post Your Attendance Numbers Here)
Wednesday, April 15, 2009 | Kristinn
Posted on April 15, 2009 3:08:47 PM PDT by kristinn

I’m hoping to be able to ascertain an overall national figure of attendance at the tea parties today by asking Freepers to post their crowd estimates on this thread.

I’m also asking that the thread be kept to just the numbers, no photos, etc., but if you want to link back to photos in your crowd estimate that’s fine.

Please give the location and number of participants.

I’ll go first:

Melbourne, FL - 1000.

Hello folks. I attended the Tax Day Tea Party on the Morristown Green in Morristown, New Jersey. I left about halfway through because I wasn’t feeling well — also because I had to go back to my car anyway (thanks to Morristown’s stupid 2-hour parking limit) and decided I’d beat the traffic.

I’ll leave it to others to describe the speeches etc. However, I took many photos — and I just got done putting them all up on Flickr! Enjoy.

100-200 in front of IRS at 55 Market. Signs, flags, kids, families & cameras. Group of anti-protesters but didn’t look like ACORN (not very professional). Their signs said “racists.” Will be another tea party with radio station down the street at Ceasar Chavez Plaza at 5pm-7pm. I passed out flyers listing congressional actions threatening Liberty. None were thrown away. No problems, no litter. Bored cops (on overtime probably). Talked to lot of people. Exchanged information.

The Tea Parties: Why? and What Now?
From Sea to Shining Sea ^ | 4/15/09 | Purple Mountains
Posted on April 15, 2009 3:52:00 PM PDT by PurpleMountains

The incredible success of today’s Tea Parties (well over 1000 in little old Punta Gorda) tell me that this is only the beginning, but we have to understand what the movement means. The Tea in Tea Party stands for (T)axed (E)nough (A)lready?. This year, due to the Bush tax cuts that will soon expire, we celebrated Tax Freedom Day on April 13, the earliest since about 1960. The total tax burden on Americans for 2009 is estimated at 28% of national income, while in the last year of the Clinton Administration it reached 34%, the highest in recent history. In 1930 the total tax burden was less than 12%.

Obviously the Tea Party protesters (including myself) were not protesting present and past taxes; what we are protesting are the tax increases built into the future Obama budgets – which have to be paid for through taxes or hyper-inflation.

Thousands Turn out for Carson City, NV T.E.A. Party (Great Photos!)
Freeper on the Scene | 4-15-2009 | Beelzebbuba
Posted on April 15, 2009 4:13:44 PM PDT by Beelzebubba

Under gray skies, with wintry temperatures in the upper thirties, thousands of frustrated but enthusiastic taxpayers turned out today in Carson City Nevada for perhaps the biggest grass-roots protest demonstration the tiny capitol city has ever seen.

The crowd gathered beginning at 10:30 AM, on the tree-covered lawn of the Legislative building, with the trees in full blossom to provide a soft canopy for the determined protesters. The flag-festooned protest continued through 1PM.

The group included families with children, young adults, seniors, and veterans. The crowd of thousands stretched out on both sides of Carson Street, for 5 blocks, greeting motorists honking in support. As traffic crawled past, truckers greeted the gathering with blasts of their air horns, earning a cheer from the crowd each time.

A large contingent of the group centered on a speaker’s area on the lawn, where T-shirt vendors, voter registrars, and activists offered their products and services, and conservative speakers delivered their messages to applause.

While the signs and messages carried by the protesters were often harshly critical of Nevada Senator Harry Reid, and President Obama, a family festival atmosphere prevailed. Possibly, this cheerfully conservative group reclaimed the “hope” mantra from Democrats.

A Madison “Tea Party”: Thousands Steep Over Obama at Capitol Square (Lefty Op/Ed)
Isthmus Magazine ^ | April 15, 2009 | Joe Tarr
Posted on April 15, 2009 4:54:30 PM PDT by Diana in Wisconsin

The organizers hailed it as movement of ordinary Americans taking to the streets to take back their country.

Today, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., they flocked to the Wisconsin state Capitol, as part of a national eruption of Tax Day Tea Parties. They blared working-class anthems including Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and Lee Greenwood’s “Proud To Be An American.” And the array of conservative speakers tried their best to work the crowd into a frenzy of anti-tax, anti-Democratic anger on tax day. Most of what they said drew applauses and cheers.

But the rally’s political rants may have been upstaged by the conspiracy-minded crazies, who carried signs that equated President Obama to Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin, lamented the rise of socialism, and warned of Obama’s plan for “white slavery. ”

“I do think he’s the anti-Christ,” one man told me of Obama. He carried a sign proclaiming just that, but didn’t want to be identified. “I’m in slavery for the welfare of other people who don’t want to work.”

The man also spoke of the Obama’s administration’s deleterious effect on his health. “Our government is sickening,” he said. “It makes me want to throw up.” He said his tax returns were in his car, waiting to be mailed; he owed money this year.

The tea parties, sponsored by Americans for Prosperity, were marketed as modern day take-offs on the Boston Tea Party. The rhetoric pitted hard-working Americans against East Coast liberals. New York Times columnist Paul Krugman was mentioned several times from the podium for having pegged these tea parties as “AstroTurf (fake grass roots) events, manufactured by the usual suspects.”

There were plenty of ordinary Americans at the event. And they were genuinely angry — angry about their tax bills, upset with the economy and the recent federal bailouts of the banks and auto manufacturers.

“I’m worried about my child’s future and my future,” Joel Artin, from West Allis, Wisconsin, told me. He said he’d hoped to retire at 65 but feared he’d now have to work until 85. “They’re putting a huge burden on people who pay taxes, which happen to be myself and soon my daughter.”

Artin — who filed his taxes in January, and got a rebate — said he’s not against paying any taxes. He agrees that roads need to be fixed and national defense costs money. But “I’m worried that a lot of this is going to people looking for a handout.” Like the banks?

Susan Wielenbeck, from a Milwaukee suburb, stood next to an Obama cutout dressed in a red king’s gown with tea bags pinned all over. She filed for an extension this year on her taxes.

Wielenbeck said she feared taxes could only go up as the deficit climbs higher. “I feel that we’re heading more towards socialism,” she said. “I live paycheck to paycheck. I can’t afford to pay more taxes.”

The events organizers bragged that the event drew 5,000 people. Police made a conservative estimate of 2,500 to 3,500.

Perhaps the most amusing part of the event was the signs: “Look at Us Obama U.R.A Gret Community Organizer,” “I’ll keep my money, you keep the change,” “Government wants you poor and dependent,” “No pirates died when Bush was president,” “Obamanomics: Chains we can believe in,” “Be heard, not herded,” “You’re taxing the shirt off my back,” “We can handle a depression, not socialism,” “Don’t use my money to kill babies,” “Where is my earmark? I want a pony,” and “We’re plucking chickens and heating tar.”

ST. AUGUSTINE FLORIDA TEA PARTY
SWAMPSNIPERPRESS ^ | April 15, 2009 | swampsniper
Posted on April 15, 2009 5:09:31 PM PDT by SWAMPSNIPER

Great turnout, I estimate 1000, some folks had to go back to work, people coming and going all afternoon. We will have accurate figures later.

The press, with the exception of the local radio station, came late. I don’t know what they will do with whatever they collected.

I got to make a very short pro 2nd amendment statement, I just said that Mexico and the ghettos aren’t my fault, and I won’t register or surrender diddly squat! The crowd agreed!

Let’s plan a big Fourth of July, all over America, the ball is rolling, let’s keep it going!

Bradenton, Fla. last minute Tea Party

A TeaParty in Bradenton Fla. was put together in a hurry.
The owners of a local citrus company let us use their facility for the get together. We had speakers from local citizens to politians from local and state organizations.

The best part of the whole event had to be the kids that will be featured below. The kids seemed to be as excited as the parents that dressed them up. Fun was had by all, and the event was uplifting for all that I could see.
