Female tank gunner kills 25 taliban (20 year old Norwegian girl)

The weekend edition of Norway's largest newspaper contained a very interesting interview with a female IFV-gunner this week.

The CV-9030 gunner, witch has the somewhat fitting name of Tone Gunnes, was just 20 years old when she went to Afghanistan in the fall of 2007.

She took part in the active fighting in operation Herekate Yolo II, where she (wo)manned the 30mm gun of the CV9030 IFV. She was credited with 20-25 confirmed kills during the battle of November 5.

In the interview she tells her story about the battle and how she experienced it.

On the one hand, I’m glad to know that women like this are on our side.

On the other hand, it makes me sad to know that there was young ladies like this who are fighting wars. Or even worse, may be forced to fight for their lives, which is what I feel whenever I see the photos of cute young ladies in the IDF.

1) She’s HAWT, I’d hit it...My wife looks a bit like her in the face but has a more auburn hue to her hair and no freckles. She looks very Irish, which means DON’T PISS HER OFF!

2) The CV9030 is a VERY capable IFV. The fact that they list her “kills” as 20-25 is probably because the pieces were so small they had to guess a bit.

3) Shame on the press for printing her full name and including a picture. For a bunch of bedwetters that flipped out over the valerie plame affair, they sure do seem to not mind throwing this woman’s name and picture around.

The Treadheads that are still “in the know” should do a review of the CV9030. I’m interested in their thoughts.
