Since that time, I've had GOOD success with BLUE Loctite and finger nail polish. :-)I've had mixed results with thread sealants. Of course, I've had mixed results with a lot of things. I was thrilled that the screws came out of the P556 without trouble. Of course, they used Torx screws, which are the most forgiving, and durable, and I took my time.
I have a special hatred of tiny hex-head screws. You can strip the hex out so easily, or round the corners of the wrench. Then it's panic time, as I try a slightly larger metric hex, or try to jam a Torx into the screw. In desperation, drill the head off, and hope for the best.
Sometimes "the best" turns out even better than hoped for. I had to remove the safety on a Mossberg 500, and they used those "one way" screws. I drilled the head off, and then used an even smaller drill on the stub still in the hole. I intended to drill through the screw, and then clean everything up using a tap to remove the remains.
I started to drill, and the point of the drill bit into the screw stub. But the path of least resistance meant that rather than drill the hole, the drill bit just ran the rest of the screw out of the bottom of the hole, where it just fell into the trigger mechanism.
The hole was undamaged, and I was grateful that all I had to do was fish the stub of the screw out.
A special curse upon those who use weird fasteners on firearms. Their lawyers must have made them do that.

I’m stealing that for my Nanowrimo profile. If nothing else, I can get a Nobel for plagiarism.

Torx are (IMHO) the best so far! Do you have one of those inch pound, "click" type torque wrenches that basically looks like a screwdriver? I've been thinking about picking one up. But haven't needed one so far. I was looking at one at a gun shop not long ago that we frequent. My buddy was using it and me and my daughter checked it out. I thought it was "cool" and I'm a tool hound anyway, but I'm just not sure it's worth the expense.
I'm with you on the little hex head screws. I hate them too! I know EXACTLY what screw your talking about on the Mossberg 500! My son has one and we were looking at it one day. I remember we both agreed that it would definitely be trouble to get out if required! Lawyers PROBABLY had something to do with it! :-)

But haven't needed one so far.No, I have a Proto dial torque wrench, which sells for about $175. I paid $20 for it on eBay, because it came out of a retired 1980's vintage IBM mainframe. It was used to set circuit modules into the liquid cooling channels.
The screwdriver type may be easier to use, but it has a narrower range of torque measurements. Brownell's sells the screwdriver, dial, and ratchet wrench styles.

Latest news today from TORN:
on the UKs Channel 4 Paul OGrady Show. Sir Ian McKellen was a special guest today, and confirmed a few things: He has received both scripts. Original LOTR cast members will be returning. He has signed the declaration that he will not talk to friends, family or even his agent about the script! He does not know who is cast as Bilbo, but believes he will be an English actor

eBay?! Good deal! We actually have one of those at work...just like the one in your photo. At least I “think” we do. We’ve got IBM mainframes too, so it makes sense! Maybe they have a spare?! I know somebody I can ask. :-)

He's the one the horse lost his head over.

Interesting he’s not supposed to talk about the script, at all!

The studio insist on controlling all information about their product, especially when there is great interest in details such as what is going to be in the movie not in the book.

Have you ever considered just going into the gunsmithing bidness? It just seems what you were born to do. :-)
