***I now am in possession of my sixth Irish Setter. What does that make me? Never mind.***

Could the answer be frustrated? When it comes to a beautiful dog, they would be right up near the top...

Always two Border Collies on my aunt's farm when I was growing up, but they were working dogs and were not treated as pets.

Beautiful and highly intelligent animals.

Retrievers are just the best dogs.... Are not! German Shepherds are much better than all the other dogs in the whole world...combined. Just ask mine! :)

I had an Australian Cattle Dog (aka Blue Heeler) She was in my opinion the smartest dog in the world. I learned one very important thing from her, never get a dog that is smarter than you are!

My dachshund is the most cunning dog I’ve ever owned. He not one to do elaborate tricks like other dogs I’ve had, but that’s because he’s clever enough to know he doesn’t have to. Just like he’s clever enough to know that if his little legs get tired, and he refuses to walk, I’ll have to carry him.

Only for the first two years or so. They are lovers, clowns, athletes, energetic, empathetic and hard to groom. My current guy's grandmother was named Super Noodle...that about sums it up.

I have had three wonderful dachshunds in my life and my Maxwell is now eleven. I will never own another breed, because once you understand and have lived a total of 26 years with dachshunds, you realize you have earned a doctorate degree in dogs, there is nothing else to accomplish. LOL!

We all loved our Blue Heeler, Monty, so much. We’ve been thinking of getting another but it’s too soon for me. I used to love watching him “work” our outdoor barbeques. Herding the guests’ children into two or three different groups.:)

How silly.
Intelligence is measured in more than one way. There is more than one type.

My English Mastiff is the smartest dog. He knows when my wife gets up he can climb on the bed to sleep with me. He knows how to wake me but not her when he has to go out. If I am not home he waits. He won’t disturb her.
He knows who should and shouldn’t be in the house.

What he isn’t is active. He won’t fetch a paper, slippers, or run an obstacle course. But, neither will I.
