Is there a reset button? Might be hard to see.
Did you try power cycling the switch?
Check your power supply.?
Could the ethernet cable itself be damaged?
Take the blue pill.
As long as folks are feeling generous with computer solutions... anyone know how to deal with a “double NAT” problem?
Have you tried another ethernet cable? Sometimes they go bad and the only way to check whether it is bad is to replace it.
Completely power down and let it sit for a while and power back up.
If your power light stays red all the time, it may actually be the cable. I had a problem with 2 2wire routers where the power supply goes bad.
Multiple machines reporting "cable unplugged".
Have you tried bug spray? Those Double Nats can leave some angry welts.
Buy another one.
Perhaps. Can you describe the problem in detail for everyone?
I had a similar problem, and found that a recent Windows update conflicted with a dormant and unused old Norton Security Suite. I had to download the Nortan Removal Tool, and then everything worked fine.
Good luck.
Did you try to bring up its admin page by entering the gateway IP address into a browser on a computer cabled directly to a downstream port of the router? That experiment might yield some clues.
Get to the command prompt and enter ping 127.0.0.1 if you get a return which indicates you’re receiving packets, that means your network adapter is working and it’s your cable modem.
Power cycling is not the same as resetting (in some cases).
I’ll try... I have a wireless router connected to my cable internet router. My limited understanding of the situation is that one or the other of these should be assigning IP address... but both are and that is causing the “double NAT” error. I haven’t yet found how to fix it...
Running Vista?
I’ve had this problem with a Vista laptop. Turning the router off and back on again (unplugging) fixes the problem, but while my Vista computer has no wireless internet connection, every other computer in the house still does. So I have to warn the non-Vista users that I’m about to knock them off the internet for a couple of minutes, so I can get my internet connection back up.
Try shutting off your computers, router, and modem. Then start the modem first. Wait 2 minutes, then turn on the router. Start the computers a minute later. If it still doesn’t work, you have a hardware problem.
