Kalispell pickup truck owner catches thief

HELENA — This cowboy wasn't about to let a crook rustle him out of a good truck.

A Kalispell man chased down the thief who stole his pickup truck and held him for police despite being stabbed twice in the arm. And he kept his cowboy hat on the whole time, said Kalispell Police Detective Kevin McCarvel.

The man started his Ford F-250 diesel pickup late Monday afternoon to warm it up before leaving work. But when he walked out of the office at about 5 p.m., he saw his truck being driven away, McCarvel said Wednesday.

The truck owner ran and jumped in the bed of the truck and used his cell phone to call police.

"The nice part about it was the victim in this was obviously giving directions the whole way," McCarvel said Wednesday, "so it made him pretty easy to find." The truck traveled six to eight blocks before the thief pulled over and took off running.

The truck owner was asked what kept him from shooting the thief and he replied, "‘Well, he wasn't stabbing me for real,"‘ McCarvel said.

Great story! My in-laws live in Montana. Montanans are very self-reliant.

KRAMER: Then, everybody is screaming, because the driver, he's passed out because of all the commotion. The bus is OUT of control. So I grab him by the collar, I take him out of the seat, I get behind the wheel. Now I'm driving the bus.

GEORGE: You're Batman.

KRAMER: Yeah, yeah, I am Batman. Then the mugger, he comes to, and he starts choking me. So I'm fighting him off with one hand and I kept driving the bus with the other. Then, I managed to open up the door, and I kicked him out the door, you know, with my foot, you know, at the next stop.

JERRY: You kept making all the stops?!

KRAMER: Well, people kept ringing the bell!

You have no clue as to how different Montana is from the East Coast where I live. I didn’t say Montana was perfect.

No matter where you go, sometimes things are the same. Grew up on the east coast, a little time here and there.

I shouldn't try to compare where I live v where you live though. A little further north, above CT, than we can chat. :)

“They are leaving the cities they've ruined with social controls to take over the rural lands and ruin them too. The liberal heart is an ugly mix of envy and jealousy. What they can't have or don't possess the initiative to pursue, they wish to deprive others from enjoying lfe in every way they can.”

Good points that illustrate a big problem in my opinion. Liberals are better than we are at getting votes.

They have a lot more time to do this; as many of them live off the taxpayers. Many of them work for governmental agencies such as universities, state, local, national government.

Most conservatives are busy people; raising kids, working for a living; volunteering in their communities. As a whole, we don't also don't take politics as seriously as we should.

As a whole, we don't also don't take politics as seriously as we should.

Truer words were never spoken. The overwhelming majority has absolutely no,none, nada, kein, niente, null, zip clue about topics that are the staples of this site's daily conversations.

And as many another Freeper can tell you, bringing up these topics will either cause eyes to glaze over, or elicit overt hostility. Folks don't want to know. Even losing a job ... or paying more taxes ... or the US Constitution getting shredded ... will not snap many out of willing political ignorance.

The ancient Greeks had a word for people who were not interested in politics:

IDIOTA.

And the last thing most people want is, conflict. Can't we all get along?
As long as the cable tv works, and the debit card works at McDonalds; what's wrong with being someone's slave?
Let others do the thinking.
