The earliest footprints made by Earth's first four-legged creatures have been unearthed by scientists.
The fossilized tracks were left 395million years ago by several primitive animals up to eight feet long.
They are being hailed as a 'missing link' in one of evolution's most spectacular transitions - the shift from water to land.
The findings have stunned scientists because the footprints date to 18million years before four-limbed vertebrates known as tetrapods were known to have existed.
The tracks were found in the Holy Cross Mountains in south-eastern Poland, one of the oldest ranges in Europe, and have distinctive 'hand' and 'foot' shapes with no evidence of a dragging body.
Some of the prints described in Nature are up to 10.2" wide - indicative of animals just over eight feet in length.

I'm skeptical that it would matter. Waiting for peer review will just result in the peer review being declared "fraud in the evolution religion".
Oh, yes the delusion of Evolution which has been held only by "atheists" such as Pope John Paul II.

The silliness continues, hurrah! Next, Time magazine
will be publishing full color pictures of the creature,
it will given an endearing name, its behavioral habits
will be described, its favorite foods named, its habits
delineated (as has started), assumptions made about it
all (as has started), its vibrant colors described,
its descendants down to man charted.
And what we have is a couple footprints.
Meanwhile, in private emails, high fives to fellow
evolutionists are happening, articles to promote
careers are being laid out and plans for publication
are formulated along with strategies to keep any
opposing ideas out of “legitimate” scientific journals
are being written. Only, this group has managed to
keep their servers from being hacked...
But, they are very, very nice footprints.

Seriously - I can't see how they can say with conviction that those are footprints and not some random indentations.
I'm no young-earther, but I think they're stretching it a bit.
